Abstract: A molded plastic play ball having the appearance of a humanoid head. Formed on the surface on the ball at sites corresponding to respective facial features of the head, such as the eyes and a nose, are flat depressions that merge with the contours of the ball. Adhered to these flat depressions are stickers having color-printed thereon facial features appropriate to the sites. The appearance of the humanoid head is determined by the stickers selected by the player and applied to the depressions, which features may be altered by replacing some or all of the stickers with different stickers.

Abstract: A safety helmet for a bicyclist combined with a miniature public address (PA) system which makes it possible for the riding bicyclist to broadcast to those who are in the hearing range of the system. The helmet which is formed from an outer shell having a cushioning inner liner has extending therefrom a gooseneck supporting a microphone at a position adjacent the mouth of the bicyclist wearing the helmet. The microphone is connected by a line passing through the gooseneck and extending behind the helmet to a compact amplifier and loud speaker unit clipped onto the waist belt of the bicyclist. Power for the unit is supplied by a battery power back, included in the unit or incorporated in the frame of the bicycle.

Abstract: A pneumatic bop bag which rests on the ground and simulates a humanoid figure having a head, the bag being normally erect. When a player punches the head, the bag is caused to swing to a degree that depend on the force of the punch, the bag then swinging back to resume its erect position. The bag is formed by a collapsible fabric casing having an upper head zone, an intermediate torso zone and a base zone that rests on the ground. The head and torso zones are occupied by an inflated balloon which conforms to the contours of these zones to cause the bag to assume a three-dimensional shape. Confined within the base zone is a weighted convex dish whose center pole which engages the ground is normally aligned with a vertical axis. When the bag is punched and swings away from this vertical axis, the gravitational force imposed on the dish causes the bag to return to its normal position whereby it is again erect.

Abstract: A greeting card on which is printed a message addressed to its recipient by an established character, such as a well-known cartoon figure. The card includes a detachable decal section having printed thereon an image of the character. The decal section is printed with a transferable ink, the remainder of the card being printed with a non-transferable ink. The decal section constitutes a gift from this character to the recipient who can detach this section and transfer the image thereon to a surface receptive to a transferable ink which may be of the heat or water tranferable type.

Abstract: A doll packaged in a test tube, the doll being constituted by a baby figure formed of compressible material whose plasticity is such that when the figure is compressed and thereafter released, it recovers its normal shape and size. When compressed, air is expelled therefrom and the figure is in a shrunken state so that it can be stuffed into the test tube which is then sealed by a stopper. To play with the doll, the stopper is removed and the figure is taken out of the test tube, the figure then inhaling air to recover its normal size and shape.

Abstract: A soft toy missile which when let fly by a player and then caught by a catcher, produces upon impact, sounds appropriate to the nature of the missile. When in the configuration of a humanoid figure, the missile includes a body defined by a fabric casing stuffed with a soft compressible filler, the face of the casing having printed thereon the head and torso of the figure. Embedded in the stuffing of the body is a sound-producing unit powered by a battery through an impact-sensitive switch whereby when the missile is caught. The switch turns the unit on to generate sounds that celebrate the catch. Hinged to the body of the figure and extending therefrom are arm and leg appendages, each formed by a fabric sock stuffed with soft compressible material. When the player grasps one of these appendages and whirls the missile to let it fly, the body of the figure then rotates in the course of flight, causing the appendages to stretch out from the body to stabilize the flight. Dispersed throughout the filler are plastic beads which impart to the body of the missile the feel of a bean bag.

Abstract: A button-actuated air freshener in which rotatable within a dome having a vented cylindrical shell is a turret having a central shaft aligned with the axis of the shell and an array of wings radiating from the shaft, each formed by a panel of porous material impregnated with a fragrance oil. Mounted on top of the dome is a spring-biased button operatively coupled to the shaft whereby when the button is depressed, this action causes the turret to spin to create within the shell an air vortex. This vortex acts to volatilize fragrance oil on the surface of the wings to produce an aromatic vapor that is discharged through vents in the shell into the atmosphere of the enclosure in which the air freshener is installed, the aromatic vapor serving to mask unpleasant odors permeating the atmosphere.

Abstract: A mirror and light box assembly installable in a crib or other enclosure occupied by an infant. The assembly which is interactive with the infant includes a light box on whose front face is mounted a semi-reflective mirror behind which is a film transparency having a photographic image of the infant's mother. When an electric light bulb in the box is energized to illuminate the transparency, the image of the mother becomes visible to the infant through the then effectively transparent mirror. Associated with the light box is a sound-activated switching device connected between the bulb and a power source. The switching device, when activated by crying sounds emanating from the infant, remains activated for a predetermined period to energize the bulb and illuminate the transparency. Also associated with the light box is a record playback unit having stored therein a voice message recorded by the mother addressed to her infant, the unit being rendered operative only when the bulb is energized. Hence when the infant cries, it is then presented with an image of its mother as it hears her comforting message, as a consequence of which the infant is induced to stop crying.

Abstract: A hybrid electronic and acoustic musical instrument whose main section has an animal-like form, such as that of a cat or dog. Extending from the rear of the main section is a hollow tail section terminating in a mouthpiece and provided with a series of finger holes whereby the tail section functions as a recorder instrument. A series of push-button switches mounted on the animal-like body of the main section is connected to a Read-Only-Memory (ROM) housed in this body. Digitally stored in the ROM is a series of different recorded sounds similar to those which the animal represented by the main section is capable of producing, such as barks or meows but in quasi-musical form. When a particular push-button switch is depressed, the related digitally-stored sounds are read out of the ROM and converted to an analog signal which is amplified and reproduced. Thus by blowing into the mouthpiece and selectively fingering the finger holes on the tail sections and the push-buttons on the main section, a player can combine the recorder tones from the tail section with the sounds produced by the main section to create musical effects.

Abstract: A collapsible canteen having deposited therein a charge of water-soluble flavor crystals such that when the canteen is erected and water is poured therein, the crystals are then dissolved to produce, in situ, a soft drink.
