Abstract:
A fluidic variable capacitance network comprising a pair of bellows having non-linear pressure-displacement characteristics enclosed in pressurized enclosures, and an adjustable biasing network for controlling the operating point of the bellows. The capacitance of the bellows with respect to an AC pressure signal is a function of the nominal operating point of the bellows established by the biasing network. Also disclosed is a scheduled variable high pass fluid amplifier utilizing the variable capacitance network.
Abstract:
Disposable fiber tip marker means for a flat bed plate type recorder includes first and second markers each comprising a fiber tip pen and cartridge, each cartridge having a flat base wall which is disposed at an angle of 17* with respect to the plane of a recorder chart. The fiber tip pen associated with each cartridge extends at substantially a right angle from the related base wall. Each cartridge also includes a second flat wall which extends at an obtuse angle from said base wall. The cartridges are arranged with each of said second walls disposed in adjacent and parallel planes and with the fiber tip pens thereof extending substantially to said planes whereby each fiber tip pen is capable of recording on substantially the same time line of said chart.
Abstract:
An adapter circuit is coupled to a light integrating automatic exposure control circuit of a camera to effect Flashing and Quenching operations of an associated Electronic Flash unit over a two wire connection therebetween. The adapter circuit precludes the transmission of a quench control signal from the camera to the Flash unit until a return signal, representative of a firing of the Flash unit, is received from the Flash Unit.
Abstract:
Apparatus for providing a pilot of an airplane with an indication of the specific energy of the airplane and a method for operating an airplane at an optimum level of performance by the application of the apparatus.
Abstract:
A slide loading apparatus wherein: 1. A casing is employed as a magazine to support a stack of slides that are to be successively fed by a slide changer into a display device, such as a slide projector, and wherein a shuttle is employed to apply a force to the second and the remaining slides in the stack of slides behind the second slide as a unit to push them away from the back surface of the leading slide so that the leading slide in the stack can be freely moved into the projector without slide interlock occurring between each leading slide, and its associated second slide; 2. A specially constructed support member is employed for conveniently mounting the tray in a fixed position on the side of the magazine casing between the inner ends of spaced apart protuberances that protrude from the side of the trough of the projector.
Abstract:
An accelerometer wherein a seismic mass is supported by magnetostrictive supports having preferred initial magnetic domain orientation. Displacement of the seismic mass due to acceleration rotates magnetic domains to change magnetic permeability in the supports; these changes in permeability are measured as an indication of acceleration. A closed loop embodiment feeds back a sensing output to induce a magnetic field opposing domain rotation, achieving domain rebalance. The change in the magnetizing feedback current between the unaccelerated and accelerated states is a measure of acceleration.
Abstract:
A signal display circuit includes an analog to digital converter, a recirculating memory, a digital to analog converter, and a CRT display means. The memory and the display means are synchronized so that a bright spot representative of the information contained in one location of the memory is produced on the display means for each shifting of information in the memory. New information replaces existing information in the memory at a rate less than the shifting rate of the memory so that the displayed signal appears to move across the viewing screen at a variable speed and with a constant brightness. When no new information is fed into the memory, the display means will continue to show the position of the signal as represented by the data stored in the memory.
Abstract:
A diaphragm logic switching circuit with adjustable switching points for direct acting or reverse acting switching between zero and a branch pressure input signal or between zero and a main pressure input signal.
Abstract:
An acoustic oscillator adapted for use as a gas temperature sensor wherein a fluidic signal whose frequency is indicative of the temperature of the gas is generated by a hole-tone resonator. A housing member has first and second axially aligned orifices separated by an enclosed control volume. A jet passing through the orifices sets up oscillations which are reinforced by resonance of the control volume. The oscillations are further reinforced and stabilized by a second downstream chamber, which in the preferred embodiment is a half wavelength resonator. The half wavelength resonator terminates in a converging-diverging nozzle which promotes choked flow in the exhausting fluid, thereby making the sensor insensitive to variations in input pressure. The frequency of the oscillations thus produced is indicative of the temperature of the gas.
Abstract:
A novel print head and platen configuration for a high speed printer is disclosed wherein the print head is a hollow cylindrical shape fabricated from a material which is measurably softer than the material used in the platen assembly. The print head is easily removable from its supporting structure. The hard platen has an appreciably long life and together with the print head assembly markedly improves on the print definition of the underlying printed copies.
