摘要: Systems, devices, and methods are disclosed for providing increased security when multiplexing one or more services at customer premises. Such systems and devices may include one or more virtual machines that support a service, a service operating system, protocol functions, and protocol security functions including system, devices, and methods for, analyzing protocol data and generating protocol security data. In addition, the system, devices, and methods provide an administration function for each virtual machine that allows monitoring the protocol security data and provides a protocol alerting mechanism that reports protocol security trigger events. Moreover, the system, devices, and methods have a common layer providing a common operating system and common security functions. The protocol security functions and common security function utilize conventional and fuzzy logic rules to generate protocol security data and common security data.

摘要: A network switch includes at least one port processor and at least one switch element. The port processor has an SONET OC-x interface (for TDM traffic), a UTOPIA interface (for ATM and packet traffic), and an interface to the switch element. In one embodiment, the port processor has a total I/O bandwidth equivalent to an OC-48, and the switch element has 12×12 ports for a total bandwidth of 30 Gbps. A typical switch includes multiple port processors and switch elements. A data frame of 9 rows by 1700 slots is used to transport ATM, TDM, and Packet data from a port processor through one or more switch elements to the same or another port processor. Each frame is transmitted in 125 microseconds; each row in 13.89 microseconds. Each slot includes a 4-bit tag plus a 4-byte payload. The slot bandwidth is 2.592 Mbps which is large enough to carry an E-1 signal with overhead. The 4-bit tag is a cross connect pointer which is setup when a TDM connection is provisioned. The last twenty slots of the frame are reserved for link overhead. Thus, the frame is capable of carrying the equivalent of 1,680 E-1 TDM signals. For ATM and packet data, a PDU (protocol data unit) of 16 slots is defined for a 64-byte payload. The PDUs are self-routed through the switch with a 28-bit routing tag which allows routing through seven switch stages using 4-bits per stage. Bandwidth is arbitrated among ATM and Packet connections while maintaining TDM timing.

摘要: In order to expand or increase the number of lines of a communications system, this disclosure enables connection of one PBX switching system to another by connecting the switching networks to junctors which establish a multichannel transmission link between the first PBX module and a second module of similar format. The junctor is treated internally in each PBX module as a line or trunk port and whenever an extension number which is not contained in the numbering plan of the individual module is dialed, the control unit of the PBX will direct that call to any free junctor. The complete dialed number is transmitted from the originating module via the junctor to a receiving junctor at the other switching system. The dialed number is received at the receiving junctor through the established communications path between junctors for channel associated signalling or through a common signalling channel through which signalling for all other junctors in the link is transmitted, and after synchronization, it is utilized to made a connection between the called terminal and the calling terminal via the control unit located at the second switching system. The unique use of junctors to connect PBX systems allows for the initial installation of a small system at low cost which system can be expanded in the field in a cost effective manner by merely adding on additional systems. The distance between systems and subscribers in a system has little or no effect on its performance.

摘要: A system for transporting data between equipment connected to a subscriber telephone line and a provider of services connects with subscriber telephone lines at a central office of a telephone company. The system includes a set of first multiplexers which are coupled to individual ones of the subscriber lines at a point between the cross-switching of the central office and the subscriber premises. Output signals of the first multiplexers fan into a second multiplexer. Bidirectional communication is provided between each of the multiplexers and the subscriber equipment, and also between the second multiplexer and the service provider via a line scanner which generates command signals for the operation of the first and second multiplexers. The first multiplexers, the second multiplexer, the line scanner and a host computer of the service provider can be located at a distance from each other and may be coupled together by communication links which permit the bidirectional flow of data.

摘要: A digital data processing arrangement for providing automatic substitution of a spare memory module for a malfunctioning portion of the system memory is disclosed. The substitution takes place in a manner transparent to the software programs being run in the processing system. The system memory is organized as a plurality of memory modules, each having an identical number of individually addressable words. A particular module is enabled on receipt of an appropriate signal via a dedicated lead from the system processor unit, while a particular word within that module is specified by an address received via an address bus running to address decoder units at all modules. When the error detection and identification routines of the system processor determine that a particular module is malfunctioning, a hardware register and accompanying comparison logic are arranged such that a spare module is accessed whenever the particular malfunctioning module is subsequently addressed. The approach does not diminish the available system memory address range after spare module substitution. Additionally, no memory reconfiguration is required after spare module substitution except for loading of the spare module itself whenever program memory substitution is involved.
