摘要： Various methods and apparatus for encrypting signals in a wireless access system are disclosed. A method for selectively encrypting a management message in an MS includes steps of generating a Medium Access Control Protocol Data Unit (MAC PDU) including the selectively encrypted management message and an Fragmentation Extended Header (FEH) and transmitting the MAC PDU to the BS. The FEH includes indication information indicating whether the management message was encrypted.

The location method includes receiving a message including femto Base Station (BS) list information from a macro base station, receiving a preamble including an IDentifier (ID) of a first femto BS from the first femto BS during a predetermined interval, and updating a location to the first femto BS, if the ID of the femto BS is identical to one of IDs included in the femto BS list information. The femto BS list information may include IDs of one or more femto BSs included in the macro BS.

摘要： An Apparatus and methods for communicating in a wireless access system using a medium access control protocol data unit (MAC PDU) is disclosed. The method comprises steps of receiving, by a mobile station (MS) from a base station (BS), a dynamic service addition request (AAI_DSA-REQ) message requesting to create a service flow, wherein the AAI_DSA-REQ message comprises a first MAC header type parameter indicating a type of a MAC header included in the MAC PDU of the service flow and a flow identifier (FID) identifying a connection associated with the service flow; transmitting, by the MS to the BS, a dynamic service addition response (AAI_DSA-RSP) message in response to the AAI_DSA-REQ message, wherein the AAI_DSA-RSP message comprises a second MAC header type parameter indicating the type of a MAC header included in the MAC PDU of the service flow; and communicating with the BS using the MAC PDU comprising the MAC header indicated by the second MAC header type parameter; wherein the MAC header type parameter indicates one of a generic MAC header (GMH) for general data packet transmission and a short-packet MAC header (SPMH) for small data packet transmission and a non-ARQ connection.

The method of transmitting and receiving data in a mobile communication system comprises receiving control information related to transmission and reception from a transmitting side, determining at least one of power saving parameter information of a talk spurt and a silence period from the control information related to transmission and reception, and receiving data from the transmitting side by applying the power saving parameter information depending on the talk spurt and the silence period. According to the above method, unnecessary data reception is not performed in the silence period.

摘要： A method of enabling a mobile station to perform initialization to a base station in a wireless communication system is provided. The method includes synchronizing with the base station, obtaining an uplink parameter based on the synchronization, performing initial ranging by using the uplink parameter and establishing security association between the mobile station and the base station while performing the initial ranging. During the initial ranging, a mobile station's unique identifier or control signaling can securely be transmitted.
