摘要: A display apparatus includes a display panel and a backlight unit. The display panel includes a first substrate and a second substrate. The first substrate includes a first base substrate and a wavelength transforming member. The wavelength transforming member is formed on a first surface of the first base substrate to change a wavelength of light to emit visible light having a predetermined wavelength. The second substrate includes a second base substrate and a light shutter member. The second base substrate faces the first base substrate. The light shutter member is formed on a first surface of the second base substrate facing the first surface of the first base substrate. The light shutter member controls light transmittance of the light received from the wavelength transforming member. The backlight unit provides the display panel with the light. Thus, color purity of image is increased, thereby improving image display quality.

摘要: An electro-optic display includes a first substrate provided thereon with a first electrode, a second substrate provided thereon with a second electrode forming an electric field in cooperation with the first electrode, and an electro-optic material interposed between the first and second substrates. The electro-optic material includes a non-polar solvent and a polar solvent dispersed in the non-polar solvent and controlled by the electric field. The first electrode is disposed on a non-display region of the first substrate including a plurality of pixels each of which having a display region, in which an image is displayed, and the non-display region adjacent to the display region. At least one of a reflective layer and a light sourcing layer defines an amount of light passed through the display area.

摘要: An electro-optic display apparatus includes a first electrode, a second electrode, an electro-optic material, and an insulating layer. The second electrode faces the first electrode to form an electric field in cooperation with the first electrode. The electro-optic material is disposed between the first and second electrodes. The insulating layer is arranged on a surface of at least one of the first electrode and the second electrode and contacts the electro-optic material. The electro-optic material includes a non-polar solvent forming a continuous phase, and a polar solvent dispersed in the non-polar solvent to form a droplet controlled by the electric field.
