Abstract: Packer machine and wrapping method to manufacture a packet of tobacco articles containing two distinct groups of tobacco articles; the following are provided: a coupling wheel which rotates with continuous motion around a rotation axis and supports a pair of coupling pockets; a feeding station in which a first group of tobacco articles is fed to a first coupling pocket and, subsequently, a second group of tobacco articles is fed to a second coupling pocket; an actuating device which brings, downstream of the feeding station, the two coupling pockets closer to each other, until the two coupling pockets are side by side; and a releasing station, in which the two groups of tobacco articles are extracted together from both the coupling pockets arranged side by side, so that the two groups of tobacco articles are side by side when they come out of the coupling pockets.

Abstract: A cutting unit for the cutting of a substrate band for an aerosol-generating device, and a related cutting assembly, wherein the substrate band has a longitudinally-extending axis and wherein the cutting unit comprises: feed means for feeding the substrate band along a feed direction parallel to the extension axis; a cutting head comprising a cutting edge having a closed profile for cutting a substrate portion from the substrate band, which cutting head is movable in a movement direction transversal to the feed direction between a cutting position, in which it cuts the substrate portion, and a release position, in which it releases the substrate portion; and conveying means, which are arranged and shaped so as to receive the substrate portion from the cutting head when the cutting head is in the release position, and convey the substrate portion towards an output section.

Abstract: A system for in-line controlling of the ultrasonic welding of plastic components of an electronic cigarette, in which plastic components are welded to one another at a welding zone to define a welded group; the plastic components are such that the welded group has an air passage duct having a first open end and a second open end. The system includes: a chamber for receiving the welded group; a closure for closing the first open end; air supply for supplying air into the chamber. The system further includes an air exit, connecting the welding zone with the outside of the chamber; a continuous pressure control and adjustment for continuously controlling and regulating the air pressure that enters the air passage duct to keep a fixed air pressure; an air passage nozzle having a predetermined cross section, position between the continuous pressure control and adjustment and the second open end; and a pressure sensor for detecting the air back pressure generated in the chamber after the introduction of air into the air passage duct.
