Abstract: A compressor assembly includes an impeller rotatable about a central axis and a seal assembly. The seal assembly includes a labyrinth seal defining a seal interface with a sealing element of the impeller and a seal support ring into which the labyrinth seal is installed. The seal support includes a deflector ramp fluidly downstream of the seal interface. The deflector ramp is configured to turn an airflow leaking through the seal interface radially inwardly toward the central axis. A plurality of tortuous pathways are formed in a downstream surface of the seal support ring and are configured to diffuse a tangential component of the airflow.

Abstract: An electrical power generation system includes a micro turbo alternator having combustion chamber, a turbine driven by combustion gases from the combustion chamber and a compressor operably connected to the combustion chamber to provide a compressed airflow thereto. A permanent magnet generator is located along a shaft connecting the compressor and turbine such that electrical power is generated via rotation of the shaft, and a cyclonic dirt separator operably connected to a compressor inlet. The cyclonic dirt separator includes an air inlet, and an air exhaust disposed at opposing ends of a housing. The cyclonic dirt separator is configured to induce circumferential rotation into the airflow entering through the air inlet, and separate the airflow into a clean airflow and a relatively dirty airflow, such that the relatively dirty airflow flows through the air exhaust and the clean airflow is directed to the compressor inlet.

Abstract: A rotor body for a high-speed generator includes a rotor body with interior and exterior surfaces, a coolant inlet and outlet, and a rotor cooling path for actively cooling the rotor body. An interior segment of the rotor cooling path fluidly couples the coolant inlet and coolant outlet and is bounded by the rotor body interior surface. Abstract: An environmental control system of an aircraft includes a heat exchanger configured to cool an airstream and a water extractor arranged in fluid communication with an outlet of the heat exchanger. The water extractor includes a separation mechanism for separating the airstream into a first airstream and a second airstream. The first airstream has water droplets entrained therein. A flow path of the airstream within the separation mechanism includes an angle. The separation mechanism includes a water extractor vessel axially aligned and in fluid communication with the separation mechanism. The water extractor vessel includes a first portion for receiving the first airstream and a second portion for receiving the second airstream. The first portion is configured to collect and remove water droplets from the first airstream.
