Abstract: Examples disclosed herein relate to a method comprising receiving, at a first label manager of a first network device, a first request to allocate a first label for a first route prefix for a first protocol, wherein the first network device and a second network device are part of a virtualized network device. The method includes receiving, at a second label manager of the second network device, a second request to determine the first label for the first route prefix for the first protocol, wherein the second request originates from the first label manager and determining, at the second label manager, the first label for the first route prefix for the first protocol. The method includes transmitting, the first label to the first label manager and transmitting, by the first label manager, the first label to a label management protocol corresponding to the first protocol, in response to the first request.

Abstract: Examples disclosed herein relate to a method comprising determining, at a first node, that a first Ethernet Ring Protection Switching (ERPS) port of the first node is down, wherein the first node belongs to a plurality of network nodes connected in a ring topology to form an access network. The method includes determining, at the first node, that the first ERPS port is a querier port, wherein the first ERPS port is paired with a second ERPS port of the first node and marking the second ERPS port as the querier port of the first node. The method includes transmitting, by the first node, an IGMP join message to a device part of a multicast implementation, wherein the multicast implementation covers at least the ring topology.

Abstract: A method may include storing updated firmware in storage of a target switch, transmitting instructions to the target switch to initiate a restart thereof, and transmitting a respective notification to (i) at least one switch in each of a core layer and aggregation layer of the computer system, and (ii) switches in an access layer if a switch of the aggregation layer is the selected target switch. The notification may be indicative of an impending shut down of the target switch and include instructions to each recipient switch to cease directing packets thereto. The method may also include processing any packets directed to the target switch prior to the receipt of the notification and compliance thereto by each recipient switch, confirming all packets directed to the target switch from each recipient switch have been received and processed, and restarting the target switch, thereby updating the firmware on the target switch.

Abstract: In some examples, a switch includes a first communication interface to communicate with a first device, a second communication interface to communicate with a proxy device enabled to perform proxy address resolution, and a processor to receive a first data packet from the first device targeted to a first layer 3 network address, send, to the proxy device, an address resolution request to obtain a layer 2 network address corresponding to the first layer 3 network address, and responsive to receiving a response to the address resolution request, update a forwarding information structure to refer to a layer 3 network address of the proxy device, the forwarding information structure useable to forward a second data packet to the proxy device for transmission of the second data packet to a destination device.

Abstract: Examples disclosed herein relate to a grace link state advertisement (LSA) from a virtual stack device. In an example, a first member network device of a virtual stack device may an input from a Multi-Active Detection (MAD) device. The virtual stack device may be a logical network device comprising the first member network device and a second member network device. Based on the input from the MAD device, the first member network device may determine whether a grace link state advertisement (LSA) is to be sent to a neighbor Open Shortest Path First (OSPF) enabled router by the first member network device, wherein the neighbor OSPF enabled router is an OSPF neighbor to the virtual stack device.
