Each controller is further for receiving logical control plane data that specifies logical datapath sets and for converting the logical control plane data to physical control plane data for propagating to the switching elements.

摘要: Techniques are described for communications in an L2 virtual network of a customer. In an example, the L2 virtual network includes a plurality of L2 compute instances hosted on a set of host machines and a plurality of L2 virtual network interfaces and L2 virtual switches hosted on a set of network virtualization devices. An L2 virtual network interface emulates an L2 port of the L2 virtual network. Information associated with the L2 virtual switches is collected and provided to the customer.

摘要: Systems and methods of routing a data communication across a network having a plurality switches are provided by monitoring the operation of the plurality of global links to determine which of the plurality of global links provide working paths. A routing table indicative of a status for the plurality of links is maintained, where the routing table provides weighting for each of the working paths. When routing, a link using a weighted pseudo-random selection from the choices available in the routing table is selected. Routing along one of the working paths commensurate with the selected link is performed, and the weighting is updated based upon the operation of the plurality of links.

摘要: Some embodiments provide a method for an ingress packet processing pipeline of a network forwarding integrated circuit (IC). The ingress packet processing pipeline is for receiving packets from a port of the network forwarding IC and processing the packets to assign different packets to different queues of a traffic management unit of the network forwarding IC. The method receives state data from the traffic management unit. The method stores the state data in a stateful table. The method assigns a particular packet to a particular queue based on the state data received from the traffic management unit and stored in the stateful table.

摘要: A network interface controller (NIC) capable of efficient event management is provided. The NIC can be equipped with a host interface, a first memory device, and an event management module. During operation, the host interface can couple the NIC to a host device. The event management module can identify an event associated with an event queue stored in a second memory device of the host device. The event management module can insert, into a buffer, an event notification associated with the event. The buffer can be associated with the event queue and stored in the first memory device. If the buffer has met a release criterion, the event management module can insert, via the host interface, the aggregated event notifications into the event queue.

摘要: Methods for improving end-to-end congestion reaction using adaptive routing and congestion-hint based throttling for IP-routed datacenter networks and associated apparatus. In connection with forwarding packets between sending and receiving endpoints coupled to one or more networks, one or more network switches are configured to detect current or approaching congestion conditions, generate congestion notification packets (CNPs), and return the CNPs to sending endpoints. The CNPs may be routed using one or more adaptive routing mechanisms to forward the CNPs along non-congested paths or may be forwarded along a fastest path to a sender. The CNPs further may comprise meta-data including a flow identifier associated with a packet sent from an endpoint, a congestion level for the flow, and a timestamp. CNPs may comprise unreliable datagrams that may be received out-of-order, with the timestamps being used to determine whether CNPs should be disregarded at a switch along the forwarding path to the sending endpoint or at the sending endpoint. Endpoint network interfaces implement a congestion-CNP table storing entries associating congested flows with congestion levels.

The first network device may create a shared send queue (SSQ) used by a plurality of processes run by the first host, obtain an RDMA data transmission message of a first process from the SSQ, and encapsulate a first identifier corresponding to the first process into a first packet in which the RDMA data transmission message is encapsulated. The second network device is configured to encapsulate the first identifier into a second packet in which a feedback message is encapsulated.

摘要: Ethernet link extension methods and devices provide, in one illustrative embodiment, an Ethernet link extender with physical medium attachment (PMA) circuits each having a transmitter and receiver that communicate with a respective node in a sequence of communication phases. The sequence includes at least an auto-negotiation phase and a subsequent training phase, the phases occurring simultaneously for both PMA circuits. In the auto-negotiation phase, the PMA circuits operate in a pass-through mode, rendering the extender transparent to the two nodes. In the training phase, the PMA circuits operate independently, sending training frames to their respective nodes based in part on received back-channel information and locally-determined training status information. The training phases may be prolonged if needed to provide a simultaneous transition to a frame-forwarding phase of the sequence.

摘要: Described herein are systems and methods for traffic classification that integrate a plurality of different types of traffic classifiers in parallel so that there is little or no adverse effects on data path performance. The systems and methods also integrate a plurality of complementary tiered classifiers to improve or enhance the results of a primary classification technique. Results from the individual parallel and tiered traffic classifiers can be analyzed to determine an output classification. The resulting output traffic classification can be used to determine a preferred or desirable link between nodes on a network where the network includes parallel links or network paths between the nodes. The disclosed systems and methods may be particularly advantageous where the different network paths have different characteristics such as latency, capacity, congestion, cost, bandwidth, etc.
