Abstract: The present disclosure provides azeotrope or azeotrope-like compositions including trifluoroiodomethane (CF3I) and 1,1,1,2,2,3,3-heptafluoropropane (HFC-227ca), and a method of forming an azeotrope or azeotrope-like composition comprising the step of combining 1,1,1,2,2,3,3-heptafluoropropane (HFC-227ca) and trifluoroiodomethane (CF3I) to form an azeotrope or azeotrope-like comprising 1,1,1,2,2,3,3-heptafluoropropane (HFC-227ca) and trifluoroiodomethane (CF3I) having a boiling point of about −24.46° C.±0.30° C. at a pressure of about 14.40 psia±0.30 psia.

The azeotrope or azeotrope-like compositions may be used to separate impurities from trifluoroiodomethane (CF3I).

Abstract: The present disclosure provides separation processes that use azeotropic or azeotropic-like compositions of 1-chloro-3,3,3-trifluoropropene (HCFO-1233zd) that allow for improved recovery rates of 1-chloro-3,3,3-trifluoropropene during or after manufacturing processes. Such recovery or separation processes can utilize the unique properties of azeotropic or azeotropic-like composition with various combinations of separation techniques (e.g., distillation and decanting) that yield highly pure compositions of 1-chloro-3,3,3-trifluoropropene and simultaneously offer high yields of 1-chloro-3,3,3-trifluoropropene. Such highly pure compositions of 1-chloro-3,3,3-trifluoropropene may find useful applications in polymer technology as monomers or comonomers.

Abstract: Disclosed are compositions useful in a wide variety of applications, including heat transfer fluids which possess a highly desirable and unexpectedly superior combination of properties, and heat transfer systems and methods based on these fluids. The preferred heat transfer fluid comprises from about 1 to about 40 percent, on a weight basis, of carbon dioxide (CO2) and from about 99 to about 60 percent, on a weight basis, of a compound having the Formula I XCFzR3-z (I), where X is a C2 or a C3 unsaturated, substituted or unsubstituted, alkyl radical, each R is independently Cl, F, Br, I or H, and z is 1 to 3. A preferred compound of Formula I is tetrafluoropropene, particularly 1,1,1,3-tetrafluoropropene and/or 1,1,1,3-tetrafluoropropene.
