摘要: A method of optimizing the compression efficiency in a packet data communication where a compression history of previous packets is used for the compression of a current packet, the method including: updating the compression history selectively, wherein the selection is performed based on a first algorithm whether a packet shall be compressed, and on a second algorithm whether a compressed packet shall be used for an update of the compression history. The compressor can be enabled to safely infer a subset of the context at the decompressor by simply monitoring the Transmission Control Protocol acknowledgment signaling, wherein that subset is used as a context for compression.

摘要: The invention is a method and system for compressing a current value into a minimum number of bits for transmission from a compressor to a decompressor. A method in accordance with the invention includes maintaining a series of at least one previous value at the compressor, each previous value having different k least significant bits and which have been transmitted to the decompressor; determining a value of k representing a smallest number of bits which allows successful decompression of the current value at the decompressor using as a reference value any value in the series of at least one previous value; and transmitting the current value from the compressor to the decompressor in compressed form with the k least significant bits of the current value.

摘要: A timer based header compression/decompression technique and timer and reference based technique are provided. A source generates a header field, such as an RTP time stamp. A packet including the header field is sent to a compressor which calculates a compressed header field based on the header field of the packet from the source and a jitter quantity. The compressed header field is calculated by calculating a jitter effect the network before the compressor has on the transmission of packets and calculating a jitter effect the network between the compressor and a decompressor has on the transmission of packets. The packet including the compressed header field is transmitted to a decompressor which includes a local timer. The decompressor decompresses the compressed header field by calculating an approximation of the header field based on the elapsed time since the arrival of a previous packet and the field value in the previous packet. The approximation of the header field is then corrected based on the compressed header field provided in the packet.

摘要: A method, system and apparatus are provided for performing peer-to-peer (P2P) data sharing operations between user equipment (UE) devices in a wireless-enabled communications environment. A first client node comprises content data and operates in a server peer mode to provide content data. A second client node submits a request to a P2P application server (P2P AS) for the content data. In response, the P2P AS provides the address of the first client node to the second client node. The second client node then uses the provided address to submit a request to the first client node to provide the content data. The first client node accepts the request and then provides the content data to the second client node.

摘要: An improved scheduling mechanism usable for a data transmission in a packet based network is provided. A plurality of connections is detected, and for each of the connections, a buffer occupancy level is determined. Then, the connections having a smaller buffer occupancy level are prioritized in comparison to the other connections, and packets of the plurality of connections are scheduled on the basis of the result of the prioritizing. The scheduling mechanism is implemented in a network element of the packet based network or in a sender and receiver.

摘要: Apparatus, and associated method, converts real-time multimedia information generated pursuant to an RTP protocol into a form amenable for transmission upon a radio channel, such as a radio channel defined in a cellular communication system. When converted, the informational content of the multimedia information is transmitted in a manner that achieves spectral efficiency and low, constant delay. Once transmitted over the radio channel, the multimedia information is converted back into form corresponding to the RTP protocol before being sent to the receiving station.
