Abstract:
A method, apparatus, computer program, and system is provided to redirect an internet protocol mobility session establishment request. According to certain embodiments of the invention, the request message is redirected from an original local mobility anchor (“LMA”) to an alternative LMA. According to certain embodiments of the invention, this redirection provides load balancing between the LMAs.
Abstract:
In accordance with an example embodiment of the present invention, there is provided an apparatus receiving or storing an indicator relating to an access point, the indicator indicating whether the first access point supports joint association and address provisioning. The apparatus is configured to transmit a request for joint association and address provisioning toward the access point, and to receive from the access point a response to the request for joint association and address provisioning.
Abstract:
Various methods dynamic agent selection in a communications network are provided. One example method includes receiving a care-of address for a mobile node and determining a target home agent gateway device to operate as a home agent for the mobile node based on the care-of address for the mobile node. The example method also includes causing the mobile node to be notified of the target home agent gateway device in preparation to trigger a binding of the target home agent gateway device to a device associated with the care-of address. In this regard, at least one subsequent data session involving the mobile node may be routed to the target home agent with which registration has been performed. Similar and related example methods and example apparatuses are also provided.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a service control device and method for controlling service execution in a communication network. A service script for a user is loaded in response to the receipt of an incoming message, and it is checked based on a comparison of the loaded service script and the incoming message whether a service is to be triggered. If a service triggering has been determined, a service is activated in an external service execution environment. Due to the fact that the service execution is not performed in the service control point but in an external service execution environment, the service logic does not have to be provided at the service control point. It provides a flexible way to define, execute, and control user-specific, operator, and third party services combining various service capabilities.
Abstract:
A method for registering a home address of a mobile node with a home agent in a network. Instead of using the home address of the mobile node as the key element in identifying the mobile node, the home agent uses the network access identity of the mobile node included in a registration request sent by the mobile node to the home agent in the registration process. Upon receiving the registration request, the home agent authenticates the mobile node by selecting the appropriate security association based on the network access identity. In response, the home agent may send Authentication and Key material to the mobile node so as to allow the mobile node to further provide the home agent with a mobile node authentication for use in a challenge-response procedure.
Abstract:
An apparatus, system, and method may include a user device, an HRPD network comprising a HSGW, and a 3GPP EPC network comprising at least one gateway. The user device may be configured to detect a need to establish a connection with the 3GPP EPC network, determine an APN value that corresponds to the 3GPP EPC network, include the APN value in a connection request, and communicate the connection request to an HRPD gateway of the HRPD network. The HRPD gateway may be configured to receive the connection request from the user device, determine a PDN gateway of the 3GPP EPC network that corresponds to the APN value in the connection request, and enable a connection between the user device and the 3GPP EPC network.
Abstract:
According to one general aspect, a method of using a customer premises equipment (CPE) to represent a mobile station (MS) to a base station (BS) is described. Wherein the CPE and the BS are part of a first wireless network based upon a first networking standard, and the MS and the CPE are part of a second wireless network based upon a second networking standard. The method comprising associating the MS with the CPE. The method further comprising indicating to the BS that the CPE is acting as an agent for the MS on the second wireless network. Also comprising acting as an agent, on the second wireless network, for the MS. And comprising, storing context information related to the MS, wherein the context information includes MS context information related the first network and MS context information related the second network.
Abstract:
A method and system that each allow for communication between a first network and a second network. The first and second networks typically operate in accordance with different protocols and a user associated with the first network is typically connected to the second network. The method includes determining when a routing entity is associated with at least one of the networks. The method also includes using a gateway for traffic when the routing entity is associated with one of the network. Further, the method includes using tunnelling for the traffic when the routing entity is associated with the other of the networks.
Abstract:
A method of communication that includes sending a first message from user equipment to a server, requesting a home agent and/or a home address. The method also includes authenticating the user equipment and providing the home agent and/or home address only when the user equipment is authenticated. Also, a communication system, a server, and user equipment that are configured to implement the method.
Abstract:
A security gateway/home agent controller HAC is used to assign one home agent HA from a plurality of HAs and to identify at least one security protocol that is common between a mobile node MN and the assigned HA. Establishment of a security association between the MN and the assigned HA is enabled according to the identified security protocol and utilizing bootstrapping parameters provided over a secure connection between the security gateway/HAC and the MN. The bootstrapping parameters include at least a home address for the MN, an address of the assigned HA and security credentials and security parameters for the identified at least one security protocol. In an exemplary embodiment the home address for the MN may be an IPv6 home address and the MN may have certain capabilities with respect to security protocols and ciphering suites which the MN sends to the security gateway.
