摘要： A developing apparatus for an image forming apparatus includes a magnetic sealing member having an arcuate surface and having a magnetic property, and which is opposed to an outer surface of a developing roller with a gap therebetween and a projected surface having a magnetic property projected from an upstream end of the arcuate surface toward upstream with respect to a peripheral moving direction of the developing roller, and which is more remote from an outer surface of the developing roller than the arcuate surface; and a sheet for preventing the magnetic developer from leaking between the developing device frame and the developing roller. The sheet is mounted to an upstream end of a developing device frame with respect to the moving direction and contacted to the developing roller so as to cover at least a part of the projected surface.

摘要： A process cartridge is detachably mountable to a main assembly of an electrophotographic image forming apparatus. The main assembly includes an output contact movable between electrical connecting and retracted positions, a displaceable member for moving the output contact, and an elastic function member for elastically urging the displaceable member to urge the output contact toward the retracted position. The cartridge includes an electrophotographic photosensitive drum, a process device actable on the drum, and a movable operation member engageable with a main-assembly fixed engageable member and with the displaceable member to move the output contact from the retracted to the electrical connecting position against the bias of the elastic function member, in interrelation with the movement of the displaceable member, after the engagement with the fixed engageable member when the cartridge is inserted into the main assembly. The cartridge also includes an input electrical contact.

摘要： An electrophotographic image forming apparatus on which a process cartridge is detachably mountable forms an image on a recording medium, and has a main body electrical contact electrically connected to a cartridge electrical contact when the cartridge is mounted on an apparatus main body, an electrically grounded electrically conductive discharge preventing member for effecting discharge between it and a charged foreign substance to thereby prevent discharge from occurring between the foreign substance and the main body electrical contact when the foreign substance has entered the apparatus main body on which the process cartridge is not mounted. The discharge preventing member is movable between a first position located in the entry route of the cartridge and a second position retracted from the first position and located outside the entry route. The apparatus also has an actuating member for moving the discharge preventing member from the first to the second position.

摘要： The present invention provides a process cartridge removably mounted to an electrophotographic image forming apparatus. It comprises an electrophotographic photosensitive member, a developing sleeve for supplying magnetic toner to the electrophotographic photosensitive member to develop a latent image formed on the electrophotographic photosensitive member, a magnet disposed within the developing sleeve, and an electrode member for supplying electricity from the image forming apparatus to the developing sleeve when the process cartridge is mounted to the image forming apparatus. The magnet is positioned in a thrust direction by the electrode member.

摘要： A process cartridge usable with an electrophotographic image forming apparatus, a main assembly of which is not provided with a mechanism for moving a main assembly side engaging portion provided in the main assembly to transmit a rotational force to an image bearing member in the direction of the rotational axis of the image bearing member by an opening and closing operation of a cover member for the main assembly. With the process cartridge, the electrophotographic image forming apparatus can be downsized. in accordance with the movement of the process cartridge when the process cartridge is dismounted from the main assembly of the electrophotographic image forming apparatus, a coupling member which is inclinable and translatable relative to a rotational axis of a rotational force transmitted member enters an inside of the recess of the main assembly side engaging portion to receive the rotational force from the main assembly engaging portion.
