Abstract: A laundry treating apparatus includes a cabinet, a tub, a drum, a water supply, a drain, a rotator rotatably disposed on a bottom surface of the drum, and a controller that controls rotation of the rotator. The rotator includes a bottom portion positioned on the bottom surface, a pillar protruding from the bottom portion toward an open surface, and a blade including a plurality of blades disposed to be spaced apart from each other along a circumferential direction of the pillar. The blade extends from the bottom portion toward the open surface in an inclined direction with respect to a longitudinal direction of the pillar. The rotator performs a first rotation for generating an ascending water flow and a second rotation for generating a descending water flow. The controller controls the rotator to alternately repeat the first rotation and the second rotation.

Abstract: Disclosed herein is a top-loading type washing machine which includes a drum including a drum body opened at upper and lower sides thereof, and a drum base coupled to the lower side of the drum body, a hub fixed to the drum base, an upper balancer installed to the drum body, for reducing vibrations generated when the drum rotates, and a lower balancer fixed to one of the hub and the drum base, for reducing vibrations generated when the drum rotates.
