摘要： An image forming apparatus has a high-speed mode and a low-speed mode and includes a speed switch unit configured to select the high-speed mode or the low-speed mode by switching a rotation direction of a drive source. The speed switch unit includes a drive gear attached to a rotating shaft of the drive source; a first drive gear series transmitting a rotating power of the drive source upon rotation in a first direction to an image carrier; and a second drive gear series transmitting a rotating power of the drive source upon rotation in a second direction to the image carrier, the second drive gear series having a larger reduction ratio than the first drive gear series. The speed switch unit causes the drive gear to be selectively connected to the first drive gear series or the second drive gear series depending on the rotating direction of the drive source.

摘要： An image forming apparatus includes an exposure device as a light source, a developer container storing developer and attached to a main body of the image forming apparatus perpendicular to a lengthwise direction of the photoconductor, a developing unit and a photoconductor unit having a photoconductor for bearing a latent image thereon each detachably attached to the main body substantially in the same direction as the developer container. An exposure device displacing mechanism displaces the exposure device between a first position enabling the exposure device to function as the light source and a second position disabling the exposure device to function as the light source. The photoconductor unit is detached when the developer container is either displaced from an initially attached position or is removed from the main body and the exposure device displacing device has displaced the exposure device to the second position.

摘要： In the present invention, a winder shaft of a toner supplying device and that of an imaging cartridge are coupled with gears, and a lock lever for locking rotation of gears is provided with the toner supplying device. Moreover, only when the imaging cartridge is attached to the toner supplying device, the lock lever is set released by a rib disposed for the imaging cartridge, whereby removals of seals for the toner supplying device and the imaging cartridge is made feasible. Thus, without accompanying fear that the seals are removed during storage, toner supplying device can be attached so as to supply toner when a toner in the imaging cartridge is used up.

摘要： An automatic sheet feeder having a first tray capable of moving upward and downward and a second tray arranged adjacently behind the first tray (upstream in a sheet feed direction). The first tray moves upward to press a first stack of sheets against a sheet feed roller. When the first stack of sheets is all fed out, the first tray moves downward, and a second stack of sheets is moved by a movement mechanism from the second tray onto the first tray. The first tray is shorter than the stack of sheets, and the second tray is longer than the stack of sheets. Even if the second stack of sheets on the second tray is displaced by vibration, the first tray can move downward without interfering with the second stack of sheets.

摘要： A toner container has a rotatable cylindrical member attached to an opening portion of a recessed side wall of the toner container. A portion of the outer periphery of the cylindrical member includes a toner port so that toner particles contained in the toner container can be fed through the toner port to a developer. The cylindrical member is rotatable from a position where the toner port is at the bottom of the cylindrical member to a position where the toner port is at the top of the cylindrical member under a lid member which covers the toner port to completely prevent the leakage of toner particles from the toner container during the exchange or transportation of the toner container.
