Abstract:
One embodiment of the invention includes a method for managing a streaming media service. The method includes receiving a request for a streaming media service from a client. It is noted that the streaming media service includes a media service component. Additionally, the method includes selecting a service manager from a plurality of service managers to provide the request to. Furthermore, the method includes selecting a provider from a plurality of providers of a network to assign the media service component. Moreover, the method includes informing said provider assigned to perform the media service component, enabling the streaming media service to be performed on a streaming media.
Abstract:
A method and system for streaming media data to a fixed client and/or a mobile client. In one method embodiment, the present invention recites encoding media data to be streamed to a client into a first multiple description bitstream and into a second multiple description bitstream. The present method then determines the appropriate plurality of servers from a network of servers onto which the first and second multiple description bitstreams should be distributed. The present embodiment then recites distributing the first and second multiple description bitstreams to the appropriate plurality of servers positioned at intermediate nodes throughout a network such that a client is provided with access to the media data via a plurality of transmission paths. The present method is also well suited to redistribution of multiple description bitstreams to servers based upon time-varying demand, client movement, and the like.
Abstract:
Method, apparatus, and computer program product embodiments are disclosed for quiet period management in wireless networks to enhance coexistence of wireless networks with other wireless networks. An example embodiment comprises: receiving control information in a wireless message in a communications channel from another device in a wireless network; receiving a packet having a duration in the communications channel in the wireless network; delaying transmission of a packet in the communications channel for an interval determined by the received control information; monitoring an ambient electromagnetic spectrum during the interval; and competing for transmission resources in the communications channel, using a carrier sense multiple access with collision avoidance access method, after the interval.
Abstract:
Methods and systems thereof for monitoring the performance of a streaming media server are described. Server-side measurements are performed with the server operating under a load. Client-side measurements are performed along with the server-side measurements. Data from the server-side measurements and data from the client-side measurements are aligned by time.

Abstract:
An apparatus and associated methods to improve diversity gain while preserving channel throughput in a multicarrier communication channel are generally presented.
Abstract:
A system and methods are disclosed for serving combined media using resource metadata referencing original media data. Combined resource metadata is created from combining the metadata of two or more files for a virtual media file representing the requested combined media. The combined data can be adjusted to synch audio and video portions as needed for combining the files. The virtual media file references the original media files and serves the content on-the-fly, rather than creating a new file with the combined media, at a savings of server response time and memory consumption, while maintaining high performance.
Abstract:
An integrated circuit design system, method, and computer program product are provided that takes into account signal stability. In use, at least one condition is identified where an output of a logic element before receipt of a clock signal is the same as the output of the logic element after receipt of the clock signal. To this end, such logic element may be disabled based on the identified condition for power savings or other purposes.
Abstract:
Examples of achieving quality of service in a wireless local area network via meeting communication channel performance criteria to include a minimum signal-to-noise plus interference ratio and a proportional fairness limit are disclosed.
