Abstract: In one example, an apparatus comprises: a first metal layer including a first segment and a second segment, in which the first segment is electrically coupled to a single-ended signal terminal, the second segment has a disconnected end; a second metal layer including a third segment and a fourth segment, in which the third segment is magnetically coupled to the first segment, the fourth segment is magnetically coupled to the second segment, a first end of the third segment and a first end of the fourth segment are electrically coupled at a center tap, and a second end of the third segment and a second end of the fourth segment are electrically coupled to respective first and second signal terminals of a pair of differential signal terminals; and a phase adjustment device proximate the center tap and electrically coupled to a second voltage reference terminal.

Abstract: In described examples, a method of operating a charge pump includes a first control signal deactivating a first transistor, and the first control signal's logical complement activating a second transistor to reset the first transistor's DC bias voltage. The first control signal's logical complement deactivates the second transistor, and the first control signal provides a bias voltage to the first transistor to activate it, causing current to be transmitted from an input voltage to an output terminal. A second control signal deactivates a third transistor, and the second control signal's logical complement activates a fourth transistor to reset the second transistor's DC bias voltage. The second control signal's logical complement deactivates the fourth transistor, and the second control signal provides a bias voltage to the third transistor to activate it, causing current to be transmitted from the output terminal to a ground.

An interface waveguide is formed by a defined region positioned within the block of material between the first interface region and the second interface region.

Abstract: A device includes a multilayer substrate having a first surface and a second surface opposite the first surface. A substrate waveguide having a substantially solid wall is formed within a portion of the multilayer substrate perpendicular to the first surface. The substrate waveguide has a first end with the wall having an edge exposed on the first surface of the multilayer substrate. A reflector is located in one of the layers of the substrate and is coupled to an edge of the wall on an opposite end of the substrate waveguide.

Abstract: A system is provided in which a first waveguide has a first resonator coupled to an end of the first waveguide. A second waveguide has a second resonator coupled to the second waveguide. Transmission of a signal propagated by the first waveguide across the gap to the second waveguide is enhanced by a confined near field mode magnetic field produced by the first resonator in response to the propagating wave that is coupled to the second resonator.

Abstract: A system is provided in which a set of modules each have a substrate on which is mounted a radio frequency (RF) transmitter and/or an RF receiver coupled to a near field communication (NFC) coupler located on the substrate. Each module has a housing that surrounds and encloses the substrate. The housing has a port region on a surface of the housing. Each module has a field confiner located between the NFC coupler and the port region on the housing configured to guide electromagnetic energy emanated from the NFC coupler through the port region to a port region of an adjacent module. The port region is offset laterally from the NFC coupler. The field confiner is skewed to provide a pathway between the NFC coupler and the port region.
