摘要: A vector quantizer for a speech coder for coding speech signals at low bit rates. The vector quantizer includes an auto-correlation calculation circuit for calculating an impulse response of a weighting function for each sub-interval of an input signal vector. The vector quantizer also includes a weighted cross-correlation calculation circuit for calculating a weighted cross-correlation of the weighted input signal vector and the weighted codevector having a code length equal to that of the input signal vector. The vector quantizer further includes a weighted auto-correlation calculation circuit for calculating an auto-correlation of the weighted codevectors, by using respective auto-correlations of the impulse responses, the codevectors and the cross-correlations. A distance between the input signal vector and the codevector is calculated by using the cross-correlations of the weighted input signal vector and the weighted codevectors, and the auto-correlation of the weighted codevector, and an index of a codevector corresponding to the minimum distance is obtained by an inspection circuit.

摘要: A pitch lag is extracted for each of a predetermined number of sub-frames. A predicted pitch lag for a pertinent sub-frame in the predetermined number of sub-frames is calculated on the basis of at least two pitch lags extracted for sub-frames other than the pertinent sub-frame or at least one pitch lag extracted for sub-frame other than the pertinent sub-frame and the preceding sub-frame by one sub-frame. A difference between the predicted pitch lag and the extracted pitch lag is then coded. Thus, an input speech signal pitch lag is coded for each sub-frame having a predetermined length.

摘要: There is provided a printer control apparatus which can be applied to an image forming apparatus in which a plurality of types of readers and a plurality of types of printers can be connected to a single controller, and which enable efficient transfer of image data from the reader to the printer via an image memory of the controller. The controller receives image data from a reader and temporarily stores the same in an image memory, and transmits the stored image data to a printer. The controller acquires a reader processing speed from the reader and a printer processing speed from the printer, and determines, while the image data is being written to the image memory, timing for transmitting the image data written in the memory to the printer according to a difference between the reader processing speed and the printer processing speed and a sub-scan size of the image data. The controller causes the reader to start reading an original, and transmits the written image data from the image memory to the printer in the determined timing.

摘要: A speech decoding device is provided is capable of reducing degradation of speech quality caused by concealment processing performed when a loss of a packet has occurred, e.g., in speech packet communications using a VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) or the like. A decoding circuit decodes speech from a packet received through an input terminal and stores an internal signal in an updating buffer circuit, the internal signal produced in the decoding process and to be used in a decoding process for a subsequent packet to be subsequently received. The decoding circuit produces, based on the internal signal stored in the updating buffer circuit, concealed speech corresponding to a packet having not been received, and outputs the produced concealed speech. The internal signal is updated using the concealed speech.

摘要: An audio decoding apparatus decodes high frequency component signals using a band expander that generates multiple high frequency subband signals from low frequency subband signals divided into multiple subbands and transmitted high frequency encoded information. The apparatus is provided with an aliasing detector and an aliasing remover. The aliasing detector detects the degree of occurrence of aliasing components in the multiple high frequency subband signals generated by the band expander. The aliasing remover suppresses aliasing components in the high frequency subband signals by adjusting the gain used to generate the high frequency subband signals. Thus occurrence of aliasing can be suppressed and the resulting degradation in sound quality can be reduced, even when real-valued subband signals are used in order to reduce the number of operations.
