Abstract:
An image forming apparatus includes an image forming mechanism for forming an image, at least one guide member arranged in parallel, and a belt unit to be inserted into and removed from the image forming apparatus. The belt unit includes a belt, at least two rotating supports, a supporting frame, a cover, and at least one guided member. The belt is formed in an endless belt shape and transfers the image formed by the image forming mechanism. The belt is looped over the rotating supports which are rotatably supported by the supporting frame. The cover covers an outer circumferential surface of the belt. The guided member is disposed on an outer surface of the cover, engages with the guide member, and is slidably moved along the guide member when the belt unit is inserted into and removed from the image forming apparatus.
Abstract:
One end of a rotational shaft of a supporting rotational body attached with a rotational member is rotatably supported. The rotational member is sandwiched by a supporting frame that rotatably supports supporting rotational bodies spanned with an annular belt and fixing members fixed to the supporting frame. Thus, the one end of the rotational shaft is supported by the supporting frame and the fixing members at, at least two points. A mark detector is fixed to the fixing members, and the fixing members are fixed to the supporting frame at, at least two points. Accordingly, erroneous detection of a rotational angular speed or a rotational angular displacement of a supporting rotational body due to vibration of the supporting rotational body can be suppressed.
Abstract:
An image forming apparatus includes a guiding unit. This guiding unit is located between a transferring unit and a fixing unit and includes a guiding part. The guiding part guides a recording sheet from the transferring unit to the fixing unit with a side opposite to the surface of the recording sheet contacting with the guiding part. The guiding part has a greater height at end portions than at a central portion thereof.
Abstract:
A cleaning device is used in an image forming apparatus to remove residual attachments including toner and paper powders from a surface of a movable intermediate transfer element onto which toner images are transferred from an image carrier. The cleaning device includes a cleaning brush that contacts the surface of the intermediate transfer element to apply a bias having a predetermined polarity to the toner adhered onto the surface of the intermediate transfer element so as to make uniform a polarity of the toner. The cleaning device further includes a pressing member that contacts the surface of the intermediate transfer element with a predetermined pressure. The pressing member is disposed at a position upstream of the cleaning brush in a direction of movement of the intermediate transfer element.
Abstract:
A method of producing an endless intermediate transfer belt having at least one position detecting hole for detecting a rotational position of the endless intermediate transfer belt in an image forming apparatus, including rotating a cylindrical mold having at least one protruding member on an inner peripheral surface thereof, supplying a liquid material onto the inner peripheral surface of the cylindrical mold wherein the liquid material is formed into the endless intermediate transfer belt and the at least one position detecting hole is formed in the endless intermediate transfer belt by the at least one protruding member, heating the endless intermediate transfer belt so as to harden the endless intermediate transfer belt, and taking out the endless intermediate transfer belt from the cylindrical mold.
