    摘要: In wavelet transform encoding, high-quality encoding is to be realized by enabling picture quality control from one fractional area to another. An input picture 100 is read out in an amount corresponding to a number of lines required for wavelet transform and buffered in a memory unit 6. The input picture then is wavelet transformed in a wavelet transform unit 2 and quantized in a coefficient quantizing unit 3. In quantizing wavelet transform coefficients, the wavelet transform coefficients are multiplied by weighting coefficients from one sub-band to another. The weighting coefficients are determined using the analysis information of a specified block area in a picture, such as motion information and texture fineness information. This enables fine quantization control in terms of a picture block as a unit.

    摘要: A wavelet inverse transform method includes a decoding object coefficient extracting step of extracting only coefficients necessary for decoding a specified area from wavelet transform coefficients, and a wavelet inverse transform step of inverse transforming coefficients extracted from the decoding object coefficient extracting step. The decoding object coefficient extracting step extracts transform coefficients not only inside the specified area but also those outside the specified area. This enables only an optional partial picture to be decoded without decoding the entire picture. A corresponding wavelet inverse transform device is also disclosed.

    摘要: An image signal encoded for compression using a wavelet transform as a transform system is to be decoded at a resolution corresponding to an optional rational number. To this end, the wavelet decoding device includes an entropy decoding unit 1 for entropy decoding an encoded bitstream 100, a dequantizing unit for dequantizing the quantized coefficients 101 to transmit transform coefficients 102, a transform coefficient back-scanning unit 3 for scanning the transform coefficients 102 in a pre-set fashion to re-array the transform coefficients, and an inverse wavelet transform unit 4 for inverse transforming the re-arrayed transformation coefficients 103 to furnish a decoded image 104. The inverse wavelet transform unit 4 adaptively constitutes an upsampler, a downsampler and a synthesis filter in dependence upon a pre-set resolution conversion factor.

The image display apparatus includes an image inputting unit 1 for inputting an image, an image signal pre-processing unit 2 for pre-processing the input image to generate a digitized image, a band image splitting unit 2 for pre-processing the input image to generate a digitized image, a band image splitting unit 20 for splitting the frequency spectrum of the digitized image data into one or more bands to produce band-based band images, a band image encoding unit 30 for converting the band image into encoded data, a band image decoding unit 40 for decoding the encoded data to obtain band images, and a band image synthesis unit 50 for synthesizing the band images to produce a band-synthesized image. The image display apparatus also includes an image memory 5 for storing an intermediate image obtained from the band images and a display controller 3 for displaying the band images in a controller fashion on a display unit. The image display apparatus also has a controller 4 for controlling the entire system.
