Abstract: The present invention is an airbag device that is housed in the instrument panel of a vehicle and includes an inflator for generating inflation gas and an airbag that inflates and deploys toward the occupant side via gas released from the inflator. The airbag has a front protection part located in front of the occupant when deployed and a pair of side protruding parts located on the sides of the front protection part in the vehicle width direction and protruding further toward the occupant side than the front protection part. Furthermore, a cross tether extending in the direction intersecting the deployment direction of the airbag and connected to the inner surface of the airbag along with a pair of first front-rear tethers connected to the cross tether at the front ends thereof and connected to the front protection part at the rear ends thereof are provided inside the airbag.

An airbag device 100 is provided with a bag-shaped airbag cushion 112 in a prescribed rolled or folded stowed form, and a cover member 114 for covering an outer periphery of the airbag cushion 112 in stowed form formed of a ductile fabric material containing a plurality of polymer fibers. The cover member 114 has a hard portion 124 in a state in which at least a portion of the plurality of polymer fibers are melted together, and a soft portion 126 that bends more readily than the hard portion 124 in which the percentage of the plurality of polymer fibers that are melted is at least lower than that of the hard portion 124. The airbag device 100 is characterized by a state in which the cover member 114 is bent along the soft portion 126, covering at least a portion of the outer periphery of the airbag cushion 112 in stowed form.-

RESOLUTION MEANS
The present invention is an airbag device to be stowed in a vehicle seat, comprising:
an airbag cushion that restrains an occupant by expanding and deploying;
an inflator arranged on the inner side of the seat frame which supplies expansion gas to the airbag cushion; and
a cover member made of a ductile material that melts and shrinks under heat and pressure to retain the airbag cushion. The airbag cushion includes a rear chamber section where the inflator is stowed, and a front chamber section that extends forward from the rear chamber section that is arranged outside of the seat frame when stowed. The cover member is then configured to heat and pressurize the region corresponding to the front chamber section of the airbag cushion, thereby pressurizing and retaining the relevant section of the airbag cushion.-
