Adjacent to the first layer is a second layer comprising, in admixture, peat moss and finely ground mechanical wood pulp, the mechanical wood pulp being present in a ratio of at least 0.35 grams per gram of peat moss.

The main body portion comprises an absorbent assembly and a pair of retaining members joined to the absorbent assembly to form recessed areas wherein the flaps may be tucked. Each retaining member comprises a unitary release material joined thereto such that the unitary release material superposes and is releasably secured to the flap adhesive when the flap is folded and tucked into the recessed area.

摘要： An absorbent article is provided having an apparatus attached to its garment facing side which allows the article to be attached to, and yet float on, an undergarment and which also serves to distribute the forces imposed on the article by the user's body over a large portion of the article and to transmit the forces to the undergarment, thereby increasing the geometric stability and shape maintenance of the article. The apparatus comprises a semi-rigid elastic frame formed from a thin plastic sheet and having two longitudinally extending members connected by at least one transversely extending member. Inwardly extending tabs for attaching the article to an undergarment are disposed at the mid-point of each longitudinally extending member. The longitudinally and transversely extending members may be pre-formed to give the article an arcuate shape. When applied to a winged article, the frame may also have outwardly extending tabs, disposed opposite each of the inwardly extending tabs, for properly positioning the wings.

The absorbent articles having side flaps are provided with gathered portions that can expand to relieve stresses on the flaps when the flaps are wrapped around the curved side edges of a wearer's undergarment. A releasable wrapper is also disclosed which covers adhesive fasteners on the garment-facing side of said absorbent article and provides an individual package for the sanitary napkin.

The side flap has a loop member formed from either the topsheet or the backsheet, or an optional secondary non-woven sheet, which extends from and loops back toward said side edge of said absorbent pad, and an inserted member formed from a layer which extends from said side edge of said absorbent pad. An elastic material is affixed along a portion of the length of the inserted member, and a seal affixes the inserted member inside the loop member at its base end.The absorbent sanitary article provides improved fit and leakage protection with better comfort.

摘要： Improved pads for application to the body to absorb body fluids are disclosed. Menstrual pads having a plurality of projections which are most preferably filled with a superabsorbent material are disclosed, as well as methods for making same. The present invention discloses the use of novel melt-blown technology to form a surface having hollow projections which are then filled with superabsorbent. The present invention is directed to menstrual pads, as well as other pads which may be placed against the body, such as bandages. In the latter, medicinal compounds replace superabsorbents as the preferred material within the projections. In certain embodiments, a wicking layer, preferably comprised of peat moss based absorbent product is disposed between a cover layer and the projections containing superabsorbent.
