摘要: An improvement in a heavy-duty refuse compactor which includes a large capacity container having an initially open rear end normally closed by a top-hinged, releasably-locked door adapted to be swung upward to an open position for discharge of refuse from the container; the improvement comprising a counterbalance mechanism, connected between the container and the door, arranged to assist in the manual opening and closing of the door by the operator, and to permit such opening and closing from a convenient position. The counterbalance mechanism includes a novel link and lever array wherein the lever carries a heavy counterweight.

摘要: A waste collection system including a trailer and a towing vehicle which is selectively interconnectable with the trailer. The trailer, which may be divided into a number of separate interior compartments, has a prow-shaped forward end wall which extends beyond and above the trailer hitch to enlarge the material-receiving capacity of the trailer. A towing vehicle is disclosed which can selectively elevate and tilt the trailer sufficiently to dump the contents of the trailer. An alternative towing vehicle is disclosed which provides a trailer hitch having a limited extent of vertical adjustment necessary to raise and lower a parking support associated with the trailer. The trailer is provided with a ground support stand which is automatically locked in downward support position.

摘要: The disclosure relates to a very compact, highly maneuverable, trash collecting and handling vehicle having forward and rearward portions steerably connected together about a vertical pivotal axis located between the front and rear wheels; the front and rear wheels being driven hydraulically through a pair of differentials which are powered by hydraulic motors driven by a pair of respective hydraulic pumps which are variable delivery and reversable wobble plate controlled piston type pumps; and wherein a manual control variably increases flow from said pumps to motors when said manual control is moved in one direction and whereby, when said manual control is moved in an opposite direction, the opposite functions occur with relation to the pumps and hydraulic motors. The disclosure also relates to trash container pickup means and operator control means on the forward portion of the vehicle and a trash receiver carried by the rearward portion of the vehicle. Additionally, the vehicle is provided with a pivotal connection between the front wheels and the rear wheels; such pivotal connection being disposed on a substantially horizontal fore and aft axis so that the axes of the front wheels may be disposed angularly relative to the axes of the rear wheels in order that the vehicle may be efficiently driven over uneven ground while maintaining efficient traction of the wheels thereon.

摘要: An apparatus and method for operating an auxiliary hydraulic load at low noise levels. A pump having a capacity which is sufficiently large to supply the load with the necessary volume of hydraulic fluid at relatively low pump speeds is driven by an engine operating at a speed near its idling speed. Throttle control means control the fuel supply to the engine at a level sufficient to drive the pump while maintaining the engine speed near its idling speed. When the engine speed is increased to a predetermined level in excess of its idling speed, means are provided to maintain the output from the pump at or below a predetermined flow rate to not overload the pump means or the auxiliary load. The pump may include a variable displacement pump or a plurality of fixed displacement pumps with means to vary the pump output in response to the pressure demand from the auxiliary load to maintain the torque input requirements for the pump below a predetermined level. The throttle control means may be actuated in response to the pressure demands of the auxiliary load to vary the torque from the engine in response to the torque input required for operation of the pump while the engine is operating at a speed near its idling speed.
