摘要:
A process for the purification of by-product sulfuric acid resulting from the synthesis of boron trifluoride, wherein the ratio of fluorine to boron is three or more, which process comprises entraining the by-product acid in an inert gas, the process being characterized in that before entrainment the anhydrous sulfuric acid is diluted with water in a proportion of from about one to about ten percent by weight of water with respect to the acid to be treated, the temperature being maintained above 90.degree. C., the sulfuric acid obtained containing less than 0.003% fluorine and less than 0.005% boron, so that the quality is substantially equivalent to a sulfuric acid directly obtained by the oxidation of sulfur.

Ammonium imidodisulfate and ammonium sulfamate may be converted to sulfur dioxide and ammonia by heating them with a reducing agent or a catalyst in a bath of molten ammonium sulfate and ammonium bisulfate. The reducing agent is sulfur or a sulfur compound and the catalyst is selected from Mo, W, Cu, Fe, Co, Cr, Mn and Ni.
摘要:
A method of separating sulfuric acid from spent chlorine dioxide generator liquor. The method comprises simultaneously adding to the spent liquor, a water-soluble organic compound selected from the group consisting of alcohols and ketones, and water. The resulting solid is separated to leave an aqueous solution of sulfuric acid. The method is of particular application in acid and salt cake recovery from the effluent of a chlorine dioxide generator operating at an acid normality of between 6 and 11.
摘要:
Dilute sulfuric acid contaminated with acetic acid and hydrogen chloride is purified with the resultant formation of concentrated sulfuric acid and acetic acid. To this end, the contaminated sulfuric acid is heated in a first step to at most 60.degree. C under 25-30 mm Hg so as to expel all of the hydrogen chloride together with minor proportions of acetic acid and water. In a second step, the sulfuric acid is heated to at most 165.degree. C under 20-25 mm Hg so as to distil off the bulk of acetic acid together with water. In a third step, the sulfuric acid is cooled down to 60.degree.-90.degree. C, diluted with 10-30 wieght % of water with agitation and while cooling is continued. Following this, the sulfuric acid is heated to 160.degree.-165.degree. C under 20-25 mm Hg and thereby freed from the water and residual acetic acid.

A METHOD FOR PRODUCING ODORLESS SULFURIC ACID FROM AN AQUEOUS SOLUTION OF IMPURE SULFURIC ACID CONTAINING ODOR CASING COMPONENTW BY THE ADDITION OF A HYDRAZINE COMPOUND. THE IMPURE SULFURIC ACID MAY BE OBTAINED FROM THE DRYING TOWERS OF AN ELECTROLYTIC CHLORINE PLANT. THE RESULTING ODORLESS ACID IS USEFUL IN THE PRODUCTION OF PHOSPHATE FERTILIZERS.
摘要:
A process for the removal of gaseous components from a gas stream by liquid-phase absorption of the component in the treatment of the gas with a liquid, especially the absorption of sulfur trioxide from a gas stream obtained by the contactcatalysis oxidation of sulfur dioxide in the production of sulfuric acid, makes use of a uniflow vertical venturi absorber followed by a turbulencing device or horizontal venturi absorber and a counterflow column absorber or tower. The absorbing liquid is sulfuric acid.
摘要:
A process for preparing a solution of hydroxylammonium phosphate which includes catalytic reduction of nitrate ions in an aqueous solution containing phosphoric acid using molecular hydrogen. In order to maintain the activity of the catalyst the phosphoric acid to be fed to the synthesis zone is first freed of heavy metal contaminants by contacting the phosphoric acid for a sufficient time with hydrogen and an absorbent consisting of a metal of the platinum group.

THIS INVENTION RELATES TO A METHOD FOR THE PRODUCTION OF AN ACID, SUCH AS PHOSPHORIC, SULFURIC, ARSENIC, SULFUROUS, ETC., BY CONTACTING A MOTHER LIQUOR COMPRISING A SATURATED SOLUTION OF A SALT OF THE ACID WITH THE ACID AND A MATERIAL CONTAINING A SALT OF THE ACID AND THE SUBSEQUENT SEPARATION OF SUSPENDED CRYSTALS FROM SAID MOTHER LIQUOR FOR CONVERSION TO THE ACID BY CONTACT WITH AN ION EXCHANGE RESIN.
