摘要: A break-away hook assembly is adapted for installation for use with a low-voltage residential communication cable. A pair of members is coupled. One of the members has a connector with a terminal portion which receives a terminus of the other member. The connector breaks to release the second member from coupled engagement with the first member so that upon application of a stress in excess of a pre-established load, the cable will sag while maintaining the communication integrity of the cable.

摘要: An overhead transmission line support structure includes a base segment and a main segment extending upwardly from the base segment. The overhead transmission line structure further includes a hinge operatively connecting the base segment with the main segment such that the hinge provides deflection capacity parallel to overhead transmission lines supported by the overhead transmission line support structure and such that with sufficient longitudinal loading on the overhead transmission line support structure, the main segment rotates about the hinge. The overhead transmission line support structure may include a post-tensioning system extending along the main segment and/or at least one fuse plate operatively connected between the base segment and the main segment and configured to deform upon the sufficient longitudinal loading on the overhead transmission line support structure.

摘要: This invention relates to collet-type splices and collet-type dead ends and methods for splicing together two electricity transmission cables or terminating one electricity transmission cable, the cables comprising a composite core surrounded by a conductor. The collet-type fittings use a collet inside a collet housing to hold the composite cores without penetrating or otherwise weakening the core itself. The composite cores can be stripped of the aluminum conductor to provide a bond between the collet and the composite core. The collet seats within the collet housing thereby holding the composite core with frictional forces. The design of the collet enables the composite core to stretch longitudinally through the collet to strengthen the frictional hold.

摘要: Methods for selecting a conductor configuration of an overhead power transmission line tension section between two dead-end towers when the conductor configuration includes at least two different types of conductors. Geographical profile information and overhead power transmission line preferences are used along with predetermined selection rules when selecting the appropriate conductor configuration. Some examples of overhead power transmission line preferences include electrical characteristics and conductor sag between towers, while examples of selection rules include conductor costs and conductor tension.

摘要: The present invention provides an apparatus for connecting two pairs of conductors and one pair of ground wires and for allowing separation of the same upon the application of a tensional force upon at least one of the conductors or ground wires. The apparatus comprises two plates that each defines three holes configured to receive two conductors and a ground wire, wherein the plates are positioned adjacent to each other such that the respective holes in each plate are aligned such that the conductors and ground wires coming from each plate would be in physical contact. Three connectors hold the plates together. The first two connectors are configured to release the plates upon the application of a tensional force on the conductors or ground wires before the third connector releases the plates, thereby separating the conductors before separating the ground wires. Another embodiment addresses the same in multi-service connections.
