摘要： A drag adjusting device for a closed-face type fishing reel is provided which has a spool rotatably supported at the front of a reel body, a mounting leg below, the spool, a brake plate provided between the spool and the reel body, and a drag actuating plate extending at both ends radially of the spool for urging the brake plate in one direction to apply a braking force to the spool. A drag setting thumb nut is operatively engaged with one lengthwise end of the drag actuating plate to change the position thereof with respect to the spool in order to set the braking force to be applied to the spool. An adjusting member in operative engagement with the other lengthwise end of the drag actuating plate adjusts the braking force set by the setting thumb nut.

摘要： A fly-fishing reel comprising a stationary housing mounted on a fishing rod and a rotatable spool having a clicker gear engaged by a pivoted pawl which can apply resistance to the rotation of the spool with the aid of a pair of spring devices. A single knob on the exterior of the housing is provided with a connection with an adjustment device having two eccentric pins in contact connection with the spring devices. Rotating or moving the knob changes the relative positions of the spring devices with respect to the pawl, thus changing the resistance exerted on the spool and allowing fishermen to more easily sense the movement of a hooked fish.

摘要： A heavy-duty reel includes a free-wheeling retrieve crank which is movable on a spindle to engage bosses or recesses carried on the spool for retrieval or control of the line. A brake or drag is formed on the crank and is engaged by pressing the crank against the adjacent side of the spool. A band-type drag is operated through a one-way clutch mechanism, and is mounted for control on two levers, one for adjusting the tension in the band for setting a predetermined drag, and the other for immediately applying and releasing the drag. The clutch incorporates a spring-operated shock absorber or strain relief which permits the spool to pay some line out prior to engagement of the set drag. A handbrake, operated by a squeeze action on the reel, includes an outside pad adjacent the backing plate of the reel, connected through the backing plate to an internal brake pad support and an arcuately fashioned brake pad which may be pressed into engagement with the adjacent surface of the spool for applying a braking action to the spool. The brake pad support provides a guide for the drag band in the released position of the band.

摘要： A drag brake for a spinning reel includes a stack of friction disks accommodated in a cup. A member threadedly mounted in the cup adjusts the braking force through a resilient element. The brake adjusting member is stopped in its outward retracting movement by a transverse spring extending across and mounted by the cup. A knob is attached to the end of the brake adjusting member and has an internally corrugated skirt that surrounds the cup. The spring projects beyond the cup to engage the corrugations yieldingly to maintain the setting of the brake.
