    摘要: A method and apparatus for improving forming of a web of paper or paper board employing prepressing during web forming. Forming wires are brought together over at least one roll or alternatively two rolls. The web then passes, sandwiched between two wires through one or more pressure nips which may be one or more roll nips or an extended nips. The pressure nip may be formed as the web travels between the two fabrics, one of them being a forming wire, along a straight path or alternatively as the web travels partially around a roll. The web is then sandwiched between a wire and a fabric, which may be a felt or a belt, and passed through another press nip which may be one or more roll nips or an extended nip.

    摘要: Pulp fibers can be treated with adsorbable chemicals with a minimal amount of unadsorbed chemical additives present later in the papermaking process water. A method for adding an adsorbable chemical to pulp includes mixing pulp fibers that have never been dried with water to form a fiber slurry. An adsorbable chemical additive is added to the fiber slurry. The fiber slurry having the adsorbable chemical additive is transported to a web-forming apparatus where a wet fibrous web is formed. The wet fibrous web may be dried to a predetermined consistency thereby forming a dried fibrous web having from between about 10 to about 100 percent retention of the adsorbable chemical additive. The dried fibrous web is transported to a paper machine where the dried fibrous web is mixed with water to form a wet slurry. In other embodiments, the fiber slurry can be processed to provide crumb fibers or wet lap fibers. The wet slurry containing the fibers having the adsorbable chemical additive adhered thereto is transported through the paper machine to form a finished paper or tissue product having enhanced quality due to the retention of the adsorbable chemical additive on the pulp fibers.

    摘要: Methods and apparatus to enhance paper and board forming qualities with insert tubes and/or a diffuser block in the paper forming machine headbox component which generates vorticity in the machine direction (MD) which is superimposed on the streamwise flow to generate a swirling or helical flow through the tubes of the diffuser block. Tubes of the diffuser block are designed such that the direction of the swirl or fluid rotation of the paper fiber stock may be controlled and the direction thereof is controlled in such a way to provide effective mixing, coalescence and merging of the jets of fluid emanating from the tubes into the converging section, i.e., nozzle chamber of the headbox. Also disclosed is the effective mixing of the jets generating cross-machine direction (CD) shear between the rows of jets that form at the outlet of the tubes inside the nozzle chamber of the headbox to align paper fibers in the cross-machine direction. In another alternate embodiment, the generation one or more counter-rotating vortex pairs (CVPs) may be set up inside each tube instead of a single vortex per tube. The counter-rotating vortices inside the tubes result in more effective interaction of the jets once leaving the tubes. The CVPs may be generated in four orientations in the tube block, generating controlled axial vortices promoting mixing of the jets of paper stock from the tubular elements as the jets flow into the nozzle chamber to a uniform flow field of stock at the slice opening for the rectangular jet.

The loading device is loaded by a pressure medium and includes a movable loading member and a fixed base member. In order to eliminate jamming phenomenon of the loading member, the loading member is supported evenly in its position in a cross machine direction and it is adapted to move towards the wire and away from the wire with aid of rollers arranged between the slide rail and the internal walls of the loading member which define the longitudinal groove.

    摘要: A tissue sheet is made using a modified wet pressing process employing an integrally sealed air press. After initial formation and conventional vacuum dewatering, the wet web may be conformed to the surface contour of a relatively coarse fabric to give the web a textured surface. By creating a pressure differential across the web, the air press noncompressively dewaters the wet web to a consistency of about 30 to about 40 percent prior to a heated drying cylinder. The web may be dried to substantially preserve its three-dimensional, throughdried-like-texture. The process provides a web having an exceptionally high degree of bulk and absorbency not expected in wet-pressed products.
