摘要: The present application relates generally to a control arrangement for controlling at least two azimuthing propulsion units of a ship. The control arrangement comprises a crash stop activation member for activating a crash stop procedure, after which the crash stop procedure is executed in which the orientation and propulsion speed of the azimuthing propulsion units are controlled until the propagation speed of the ship has at least been reduced from the moment when the crash stop procedure was activated.

摘要: The inventive technology described herein generally relates to the field of power transmission, more particularly power transmission through a mechanical drive system. More specifically, in certain embodiments the inventive technology includes methods and apparatus for a variable coupler drive utilizing, in one embodiment a dynamic drive-ratio gearing system to transmit a drive input for application with a variety of output uses. In a preferred embodiment, such a variable coupler drive may be used to transmit a rotational drive input to a drive shaft to power, for example, a variety of commercial and industrial applications, and may be particularity suited to power rotational propeller based propulsion systems.

摘要: An outdrive for a marine vessel, such as a watercraft having an inboard engine, is provided. The outdrive can include an upper drive unit having a driveshaft that rotates in response to rotation of an input shaft coupled to an engine within a hull of the watercraft. The upper drive unit is movably joined with a lower drive unit, which includes a propeller shaft that rotates in response to rotation of the driveshaft, and an associated propeller. The lower drive unit is movable from a raised mode, in which it is adjacent the upper drive unit, to a lowered mode, in which it is a preselected distance from the upper drive unit, thereby lowering a thrust point produced by the propeller, all while the watercraft is moving through water and while the propeller is producing thrust. A related method and outdrive upper unit are also provided.

摘要: The present invention(s) relates to a structure and method for improved auxiliary thruster systems for marine and small vessels, including small fishing and pontoon boats. Under conditions of wind or rough waters it may be impracticable to employ the main drive of a vessel because it may provide more thrust and motility than needed and may not be fuel efficient for such purposes. The present invention(s) relates to auxiliary thrusting and maneuvering systems of marine vehicles which may be employed in addition or independently of main propulsion of the vehicle or craft that protracts and retracts a thruster assembly.
