Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for managing dynamically allocated storage and processing units. The systems and methods include operations for determining, a usage pattern having a peak usage portion and a low usage portion; reserving a first collection of units on a dynamic unit allocation system during the peak usage portion; detecting a transition from the peak usage portion to the low usage portion; in response to detecting the transition, instructing the dynamic unit allocation system to reduce the first collection of units to reserve a second collection of units corresponding to a second amount of the low usage portion; selecting asynchronous tasks that consume a set of units greater than the second collection of units; and during a period of time that the dynamic unit allocation system is reducing the first collection of units, causing the asynchronous tasks to be executed by the dynamic allocation system.

Abstract: A methodology for training a machine learning model to generate color-neutral input face images is described. For each training face image from a training dataset that is used for training the model, the training system generates an input face image, which has the color and lighting of a randomly selected image from the set of color source images, and which has facial features and expression of a face object from the training face image. Because, during training, the machine learning model is “confused” by changing the color and lighting of a training face image to a randomly selected different color and lighting, the trained machine learning model generates a color neutral embedding representing facial features from the training face image.

Abstract: Methods and devices are presented for managing communications in an ephemeral communication system. In some embodiments, messages in the system are analyzed to determine a complexity value for the message. This may be based on various algorithms, models, or system associations. The complexity information may then be used to recommend an availability value for the message, and to set a deletion trigger for the message based on the recommended availability value. When criteria of the automatically set deletion trigger are met at a device receiving the message, the message is automatically deleted from the device. In some embodiments, this deletion trigger at the device may also be used to initiate deletion of the message from other parts of the system.

Abstract: Systems, devices, media, and methods are presented for device independent secure messaging. The systems and methods generate an encrypted message by encrypting message content, designated for a specified recipient, with an encryption key. The systems and methods select a set of recipient keys, associated with the specified recipient, from a plurality of member keys. For each recipient key, the systems and methods encrypt the encryption key to generate a set of encrypted keys and transmit the encrypted message and an encrypted key of the set of encrypted keys to one or more client devices associated with the specified recipient. The systems and methods then receive an acknowledgement indicating a termination status of the encrypted message.
