Abstract:
In one aspect, an electrical connector assembly can be removably coupled to a second electrical connector assembly. The electrical connector assembly includes an elastomeric insulative layer and a rigid conductive sleeve disposed within the insulative layer. One or both of the rigid conductive sleeve and the insulative layer have interior surfaces that define an opening. A conductive contact is disposed within the opening and a conductive or semi-conductive exterior layer at least partially covers the insulative layer. The rigid conductive sleeve is configured to act as a voltage shield and the conductive or semi-conductive exterior layer is configured to act as a ground shield.
Abstract:
Preventing air leakage in a recessed lighting fixture. A plaster frame extends between hanger bars fastened to ceiling supports or joists. The plaster frame includes an aperture sized to receive a can. The can includes a pair of slots. A pair of retention springs are coupled to the plaster frame, on opposite sides of the aperture. Each retention spring is associated with one of the slots of the can. Each retention spring includes a base member and an elongated engaging member extending from an end of the base member. The elongated engaging member has a surface that has a contour corresponding to an outer profile of the can, proximate the slot. For example, a radius of curvature of the surface can correspond to a radius of curvature of the can. Thus, the retention springs engage the can in a substantially air-tight manner.
Abstract:
A node is provided for operation in a control system comprising one or more master devices and one or more communications pathways operative to provide control signals from one or more of the master devices to the node. The node includes an electrical device configured to be controlled by one or more of the master devices. The electrical device includes a controller, a communication interface operably coupled to the controller adapted to permit communication between the controller and one or more of the master devices of the control system for controlling an operation of the controller, and an indicator operably coupled to the controller. The communication interface includes a radio frequency communication interface and is adapted to control the operation of the indicator to indicate whether or not the electrical device is operably coupled to a power supply.
Abstract:
A quick-connect system for connecting two or more sections of wireway in generally longitudinal alignment along an X-axis. The system involves the a series of screws in the bottom and side walls of a generally U-shaped connector receivable in corresponding slots in the bottom and side walls of the two wireway sections. In one embodiment, the bottom wall slots are closed-ended slots and the side wall slots are open-end slots extending in from respective end edges of the wireway sections. The side walls slots are configured such that they have longitudinal centerlines having X-axis and Y-axis components.
Abstract:
An electrical feed through junction block includes a mountable housing comprising a front and a back, a first conductive terminal extending from the front of the housing, a second conductive terminal extending from the housing in a direction opposite the first conductive terminal, and an overcurrent protection device located within the housing. The overcurrent protection device is configured to provide a conductive path between the first conductive terminal and the second conductive terminal when in a non-overcurrent position.
Abstract:
Systems and methods for providing message communication among multiple communication gateways. In particular, systems and methods for providing non-voice message delivery to intended recipients with increased speed and reliability to multiple users on multiple platforms. The systems and methods relate to non-voice messaging to multiple messaging gateways. In at least one embodiment, the systems and methods include Internet based electronic messaging using a messaging subsystem configured to optimize text message delivery to communication gateways.
Abstract:
The housing for a light fixture includes a plaster frame with an opening. The can light, having opened ends along the top and bottom, is positioned through the opening. A trim assembly and lamp assembly are connected to the bottom side of the can. An outer housing, having dimensions suitable for placing the housing between joists having sixteen inch centers, is connect to the plaster frame and about the top portion of the can. The outer housing includes a doubler panel positioned within the inner walls of the outer housing and having a geometry and size to match with and fit snugly into the upper portion of the outer housing. The open can allows for convection to draw the heat away from the lamp assembly and into the outer housing. The doubler panel evenly distributes the heat along the exterior surfaces of the housing.
Abstract:
A lighting unit includes a housing, a lamp fixture configured to be coupled to the housing, an element extending from the lamp fixture and configured to be received in the housing, and a sealing member defining an aperture for receiving the element therethrough. A periphery of the aperture forms a fluid-tight seal around the element. In another aspect, a lighting unit includes a housing and an enclosure coupled to the housing and configured to define an interior space, wherein the interior space is sealed from an interior of the housing. In another aspect, a method for sealing a lighting unit includes providing a housing, an enclosure coupled to the housing, and an opening in the housing in communication with the enclosure, placing a seal between the housing and the enclosure, and applying a sealing member to the opening to seal the opening.
