Abstract: A system to estimate the good distribution of loading onboard an aircraft capable of carrying out a target mission. The system includes at least one operability index determination module, a module for verifying whether the distribution of loading onboard the aircraft is considered to be a good distribution by comparing the operability index of the target mission with a predetermined operability index threshold. The determination of the operability index makes it possible to know whether the aircraft can carry out a target mission in good conditions.

Abstract: A joining method and assembly for an aircraft. To improve the characteristics or permit hitherto impossible connections between thermoplastic and thermoset components, a multi-material joining method is disclosed in which a thermoplastic connecting region is formed on the thermoplastic component. The connecting region is connected to the thermoset component by interdiffusion. For this purpose, the uncured second component is brought into contact with the connecting region and heat is supplied. An interdiffusion layer is formed which fixedly connects the second component and the connecting region to one another and thus joins the first component to the second component.

Abstract: A system for cognitive assistance in aircraft assembly includes a system to monitor an aircraft assembly process and acquire physical and physiological data on a human worker performing assembly operations. A cognitive model of the human worker on a data-processing device is coupled to the monitoring system to receive acquired physical and physiological data of the human worker, the cognitive model configured to provide state information on the human worker and prognostic data on expected behavior of the human worker during the aircraft assembly process. The state information and the prognostic data are continuously updated during the aircraft assembly process. A system control is coupled to the monitoring system and the cognitive model to assess current state of the aircraft assembly process based on the monitored aircraft assembly process, the state information of the of the human worker and the prognostic data of the cognitive model.

Abstract: A method for operating a node in a communications network for coordinating transmissions of different nodes in the network to improve coordination of communication between network nodes. The node includes a validity state and estimation module, wireless state monitor module, wireless configuration space module, and wireless configurator module. The VSE assigns a data validity value to a data packet and/or to a transmission buffer of the node. The data validity value reflects the usefulness of the data packet for an application and is preferably age based. The WSM gathers physical transmission property data indicative of transmission properties of a communication link provided by the network between the node and another node. The WCS determines a parameter configuration space amenable for transmitting the data packet via the communication link and the WCON sets corresponding transmission parameters based on the data validity value and physical transmission property data. Finally, the data packet is transmitted.

The apparatus includes a processor configured to determine a wear relationship between a wear state of the brake and a number of use cycles of the brake, determine a predicted wear state of the brake based on the wear relationship; determine a number of future use cycles of the brake based on a predicted condition of the brake, the predicted condition comprising the predicted wear state of the brake; and provide an indication of the determined number of the future use cycles to ground crew and/or a pilot of the aircraft, wherein the number of future use cycles is the number of use cycles for which the brake is allowed to be used, and a use cycle comprises all uses of the brake relating to a flight undertaken by the aircraft.

Abstract: A system for aiding formation flying of a follower aircraft with respect to a wake vortex from a leader aircraft comprises a controller and at least one accelerometer installed on the follower aircraft. The controller receives acceleration measurements performed by the at least one accelerometer and processes the measurements to obtain a value representative of vibrations generated by the wake vortex from the leader aircraft. The controller compares the value with at least one predetermined threshold representative of excessive vibrations with regard to location of the at least one accelerometer on the follower aircraft. One or more notifications, such as alerts, are generated based on the result of the comparison. It is easier to position the follower aircraft in formation flying to benefit from a rising airflow phenomenon brought about by the wake vortex from the leader aircraft.
