Abstract: A writing instrument with ink quantity or level detecting function which has an ink tube containing ink, and a float so arranged in intimate contact with the rear end surface of the ink in the ink tube as to be driven in contact with the rear end surface of the ink upon decrease of the ink in the ink tube. Further, a magnetic sensor is further provided externally at the writing instrument, while the float is formed of magnetic material. Thus, lack of the ink in the ink tube of this writing instrument can be readily detected.

Abstract: A method of electromagnetically stirring molten metal in an unsolidified portion of a continuously cast strand by a magnetic field formed by applying alternating current to at least two exciting coils, the method comprising: supplying to one of the exciting coils a first alternating current of a frequency in the range of 1-60 Hz and to the other one of the exciting coils a second alternating current with a frequency difference in the range of 0.03-0.25 Hz from the first alternating current to form a varying composite magnetic field thereby to induce stirred movement of varying direction and intensity in the molten metal.

Abstract: A hermetically sealed motor compressor for use in a small-size refrigerating machine, refrigerator, freezer and the like has a compressor on which is mounted a silencer comprising in combination a suction muffler of thermal insulating and a discharge muffler made of formed metal plates. Abstract: The present invention is directed to improvements in a perpendicular magnetic recording-reproducing head. One of the improvements comprises the use of a magneto-resistive effect element to form the main pole of the magnetic head. This feature of the invention enables a stable and faithful reproduction of information recorded in a magnetic recording medium up to the shortest wavelength and to obtain a sufficiently large reproducing output signal. Another improvement comprises the use of such magneto-resistive effect elements in layers. The multilayer structure permits production of a large reproducing output and also an optimum S/N ratio even if the width of track is small.
