摘要： Optical disks compliant with different standards are recorded or reproduced by a single recording/reproducing apparatus by a first step of determining a substrate thickness of the disk based on a focusing error signal, when a focusing section for bringing the light beam into a focus on the disk is moved in such a way as to approach or withdraw from the recording surface of the disk; a second step of performing any one step of determining the number of recording surfaces of the disk when the focusing section is moved in such a way as to approach or withdraw from the recording surface of the disk, and determining whether or not the disk can be recorded and reproduced using a tracking error signal detected when the light beam crosses the track.

摘要： A center site is disposed to intervene in a business transaction achieved through a network. The center site includes an open business information database in which open business information received from member sites connected to the network is accumulated to be opened to the sites and a notarization database to keep therein contents of contracts of transactions between the sites. The center site receives a transaction request from a transaction partner site in accordance with the open business information and notifies the request to an information supply site associated therewith. The center site intervenes in a transaction resultantly accomplished between the information supply site and the transaction partner site and conducts a notarization process for the contents of contract for the transaction to accumulate the contract in a notarization database.

摘要： Disclosed herein are a method and a system of specification processing whereby are input the design specifications of a system under development, the expert knowledge of the system addressing these specifications, and the expert knowledge of a particular field to which the system belongs. The design specifications are transformed into information in list image having feasibility and containing state transitions and transition conditions. The information in list image is then edited as model specifications formed by the basic commands for outputting graphical image information. Document information is output in accordance with the model specifications (instruction words) and the expert knowledge. When output, the document information has high levels of both formality and understandability. The transformed information in list image can be verified in text image or graphical image in accordance with the transition conditions.

摘要： In an apparatus which focuses a light beam on a rotating recording medium in order to record and/or reproduce information, the light beam on the recording medium is focus controlled so that a prescribed focusing condition is accomplished. By storing a relation between a target position of focus control and the amplitude of a reproduced signal and by obtaining an optimum target position of focus control is accordance with such stored information, the target position of the focus control can be precisely and quickly adjusted, thereby properly controlling the light beam to be focused on the recording medium.
