摘要: A camera system comprising a camera, a monitor, an image detector, a touch screen, and a remote control. The monitor displays a field of view of a lens of the camera. The image detector provides a viewer image to the remote control whereby the remote control can determine a desired image within the field of view that the viewer is gazing upon. The touch screen enables a viewer of the monitor to point to the desired image of the field of view and provides signal(s) indicative of the pointing. The remote control is operable to activate various drives to pan and/or tilt the camera, or to zoom and/or focus the lens to the desired image and to follow any movement of the image within the field of view.

摘要: A method and apparatus are disclosed for monitoring traffic using vision-based technologies to recognize events and violations. The disclosed traffic monitoring system includes one or more image capture devices focused on a roadway where vehicles travel. The captured images are processed by the traffic monitoring system to identify one or more predefined events or traffic violations. A number of rules can be utilized to define various traffic-related events, including traffic violations. Each rule contains one or more conditions, and, optionally, a corresponding action-item that should be performed when the rule is satisfied. Upon detection of a predefined traffic event, the corresponding action, if any, is performed by the traffic monitoring system.

摘要: An arrangement for, and a method of, electro-optically reading a target by image capture, employ an aiming assembly for projecting an aiming light pattern on the target that is located within a range of working distances relative to a housing, an imaging assembly for capturing an image of the target and of the aiming light pattern over a field of view, and a controller for determining a distance of the target relative to the housing based on a position of the aiming light pattern in the captured image, for determining a scanning resolution based on the determined distance, for comparing the determined scanning resolution with a scanning resolution setting, and for processing the captured image based on the comparison.

摘要: A barcode reader for verifying a barcode is attached to an appropriate object particularly suitable for use at a point of sale. A database of expected object signatures in a vicinity of a properly affixed barcode properly is maintained. At a point of sale, the barcode reader obtains an image of a presented barcode (possibly not the correct barcode) and at least a portion of an object to which the presented barcode is affixed. Using data encoded on the presented barcode, the database is accessed to provide an expected signature of the object in the region of the presented barcode. A comparison is made between the expected signature of the object and a sensed signature derived from the image of the object. An improper barcode can thus possibly be identified and further investigation initiated.

摘要: A system and method is provided for selectively activating biometric sensors (102, 104, 106) to authenticate the identity of an individual while conserving system resources. A biometric system has at least two tiers of sensors, first (102) and second tier sensors (104, 106), where the first tier sensors (102) are characteristically less sophisticated and less expensive to operate than the second tier sensors (104, 106). One or more of the second tier sensors (104, 106) are activated only after a user's biometric is successfully or unsuccessfully verified by one of the first tier sensors (102). Alternatively, the second tier sensors (104, 106) are activated in response to a user requesting a particular level of service or in response to an environmental condition. Alternatively, only those sensors are turned on which are compatible with a user's biometric profile.
