    摘要: Provided is a pressure-sensitive adhesive label, which does not use release paper to save resources and alleviate an environmental burden and which can be formed thin so that the a pressure-sensitive adhesive label can be rolled into an elongated roll. The pressure-sensitive adhesive label includes an indication layer, a pressure-sensitive adhesive layer placed on the indication layer, and a functional layer placed on the pressure-sensitive adhesive layer. The functional layer is openable by heating to expose the pressure-sensitive adhesive layer. Consequently, the functional layer can be opened stably with low activation energy, and hence the pressure-sensitive adhesive label is suitable for a portable label issuing device.

    摘要: A printer selectively prints on heat-sensitive adhesive sheets and ordinary sheets that have no heat-sensitive adhesive. The printer has a printing unit that prints on one surface of a sheet and a printing platen roller that transports the sheet in a forward direction. A cutter unit cuts the printed sheet to a predetermined length, and a thermal activation unit disposed downstream of the cutter unit has a thermal head for heating the other surface of the sheet and a thermal activation platen roller that transports the sheet in the forward direction. A detector detects whether the sheet is a heat-sensitive adhesive sheet or an ordinary sheet, and a control device controls operation of the thermal activation unit so that both the thermal head and the thermal activation platen roller are operated in response to detection of a heat-sensitive adhesive sheet and so that the thermal activation platen roller but not the thermal head is operated in response to detection of an ordinary sheet.

    摘要: A printer has a sheet housing unit for storing a heat-sensitive adhesive sheet having a heat-sensitive adhesive layer on one side and a printable surface on the other side. A set of pull-out rollers pulls the heat-sensitive adhesive sheet out of the sheet housing unit and transports the sheet in a given direction, and a cutter device cuts the heat-sensitive adhesive sheet that has been transported by the pull-out rollers. A printing device has a thermal print head for printing letters or images on the printable surface of the heat-sensitive adhesive sheet, and a print platen roller for transporting the heat-sensitive adhesive sheet in the given direction. A thermal activation device has a thermal-activation thermal head for heating the heat-sensitive adhesive layer, and a thermal activation platen roller for transporting the heat-sensitive adhesive sheet in the given direction. A first drive unit drives the pull-out rollers and a second drive unit drives the print platen roller. A drive control device controls the first drive unit and the second drive unit independently of each other.

A thermal printer is composed of a roll housing unit which holds a tape-like heat-sensitive adhesive label and a tape-like ordinary label, each of which is wound in a roll shape, such that those labels are exchangeable, a printing unit which prints on the heat-sensitive adhesive label or the ordinary label which is held in the roll housing unit, a cutter unit which cuts the heat-sensitive adhesive label or the ordinary label into pieces with a predetermined length, a thermal activation unit which functions only in a case where the heat-sensitive adhesive label is held in the roll housing unit and thermally activates a heat-sensitive adhesive layer of the heat-sensitive adhesive label, a guide unit which guides the heat-sensitive adhesive label from the cutter unit to the thermal activation unit, a control unit which controls the above-described respective units to operate differently between a case of using the ordinary label and a case of using the heat-sensitive adhesive label, and the like.

    摘要: A thermal activation device includes a platen lock mechanism for locking a platen roller of a platen unit and a heating unit or printing unit into press contact with each other. The platen lock mechanism has a lock arm mounted to undergo rotation about a rotational axis, a shaft member provided in one of the platen unit and the lock arm, an engagement recess for engagingly receiving the shaft member and provided in the other of the platen unit and the lock arm, and an urging member for urging the lock arm in a direction for bringing the shaft member into engagement with the engagement recess. In a state in which the heating unit or printing unit is in press contact with the platen roller, a distance between the rotational axis of the lock arm and an axis of the shaft member is greater than a distance between the rotational axis of the lock arm and the rotational axis of the platen roller.
