    摘要: A device for recording information on a record carrier (11) is arranged for formatting a multilayer record carrier. The device has formatting means (16) for formatting the record carrier according which formatting includes de-icing by, in the event that locations in the user data area have not yet been recorded, writing dummy data (60) on the locations. The formatting means (16) determine a first radial position (50) and a first layer (40), which first radial position is indicative of a location on the first layer on which user data will be recorded first according to a predefined recording format. Subsequently said de-icing is started by writing of dummy data on a second layer (41) of the record carrier at the first radial position, opposite the location of the first user data (55). Hence a de-iced area (58) is created opposite the user data (55).

The logical addresses are translated into the physical addresses by addressing means (31). Allocation means (32) define a continuous addressing space for a user area and divide it into a front area, a middle area and a rear area for sequentially recording information by allocating to them parts of the user area address range. The device has re-allocation means (33) for splitting the middle area into new areas, specifically when no more data can be stored in the rear area or the front area.

    摘要: Arrangement for carrying out a concealment on an information signal, the information signal including subsequent signal blocks (padding sequence), each signal block including a sequence of alternate first frames and second frames of different lengths, expressed in numbers of bits, the number of first frames and second frames in a signal block being N1 and N1-1 respectively. The last frame in a signal block and the first frame in a subsequent signal block are a first frame. The arrangement includes an input terminal for receiving the information signal, a concealment unit having an input coupled to the input terminal and an output coupled to an output terminal for supplying the concealed information signal. The concealment unit is adapted to conceal the information in response to a concealment control signal. More specifically, the concealment unit is adapted to conceal a number of M subsequent frames, M being an odd integer smaller than 2.N1-1. The concealment unit includes a memory for storing M+1 subsequent frames directly preceding the M subsequent frames to be concealed. For various situations, concealment is realized by appropriately generating frames for replacing the frames to be concealed, using the frames stored in the memory.
