    Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described for joint communications among a UE and multiple transmission-reception points (TRPs) in which a subset of the multiple TRPs transmit periodic tracking reference signals (TRSs) for use in measurement and beam management at the UE and the multiple TRPs. The subset of TRPs may include TRPs having a relatively large contribution to signals received at the UE, and may transmit periodic (or semi-persistent) TRSs to be measured at the UE. One of the TRPs may provide configuration information to the UE of which TRPs are included in the subset of TRPs, or the UE may determine which TRPs are included in the subset of TRPs based on a signal quality of transmissions associated with each TRP.

    Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for signaling for configuring downlink transmissions are described. A user equipment (UE) may receive a configuration message from a base station indicating that a control resource set (CORESET) for a downlink control channel is associated with a set of transmission configuration indicator (TCI) states. The UE may subsequently receive a control message from the base station activating one or more of the TCI states. The UE may decode the downlink control channel based on the configuration message and the one or more activated TCI states. The UE may identify one or more TCI states (e.g., associated with the CORESET) to apply to a reception of a physical downlink shared channel (PDSCH) transmission. The UE may determine to apply one or more of the TCI states activated by the control message. The UE may determine to apply one or more different TCI states.

    Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. In some wireless communications systems, a base station may transmit a control channel such as a PDCCH using one or more control resource sets (CORESETs). A CORESET may be associated with a number of different transmission configuration indicator (TCI) states which may specify information that a UE may use to receive the PDCCH. In some cases, the UE may identify an association between resources of the CORESET and a number of TCI states assigned to a CORESET using various different multiplexing techniques, such as time division multiplexing (TDM). Some associations between the resources of the CORESET and the TCI states may include a mapping of the resources of the CORESET to the different TCI states. The UE may decode the PDCCH based on the different TDM techniques used to configure the CORESET.

Some wireless communications networks may implement aspects of a single frequency network (SFN), which may support multicast and broadcast transmissions. In some cases, a base station may use directional beamforming techniques to transmit a message to a user equipment (UE) using a first frequency configuration of the SFN. The base station may adjust the first frequency configuration to a second frequency configuration, and may transmit a retransmission of the message to the UE using the second frequency configuration.

    Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A base station may use beamforming to transmit control and data transmissions to a set of user equipments (UEs). A base station may transmit downlink control information (DCI) to UEs that may indicate a set of resource allocations in which the base station may schedule a data transmission, and a respective transmission configuration indicator (TCI) state. The TCI state may indicate which transmission beam the base station may use to transmit a data transmission in a particular resource allocation. The UE may receive and decode the DCI and identify resource allocation information and an index that may indicate one or more TCI states being used for transmitting a broadcast or unicast transmission to the UE within a resource allocation. The UE may select one or more of the resource allocations to monitor for, and subsequently receive, the data transmission.

    Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. Aspects include configuring a user equipment (UE) to receive control signals from a first transmission reception point (TRP) and a second TRP. A first TRP may transmit a control signal to the UE indicating resources for receiving a medium access control element (MAC-CE), where the control signal includes an indication that associates the MAC-CE with the first TRP. The first TRP may transmit the MAC-CE to the UE which may include a beam update indication for the first TRP. The UE may transmit an acknowledgement to the first TRP based on receiving the MAC-CE. The UE may also transmit an acknowledgment to the second TRP indicating that it has received a beam update indication from the first TRP. In some cases, the first TRP may send a MAC-CE signal to the UE including beam update information for the second TRP.

    Abstract: Techniques are described for selecting transmit beam sets in multi-stream environments as part of beam selection procedures. The selection procedures and the reporting procedures of the beam selection procedures may include reporting information about potential sources of interference for the selected transmit beams. A base station may transmit reference signals to a user equipment (UE) as part of a beam sweep of directional beams. The UE may measure signal quality parameters associated with the reference signals and may select a plurality of transmit beam set candidates based on the signal quality parameters. The UE may report to the base station information related to inter-beam interference in multi-stream environments. The base station may determine which transmit beams to use to transmit information to the UE based on the report received from the UE that include information about inter-beam interference.

    Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described in which a user equipment (UE) may monitor for transmissions during an on-duration of a discontinuous reception cycle. The UE may receive one or more go-to-sleep indications from one or more transmission/reception points (TRPs), and may discontinue monitoring for transmissions from one or more of the TRPs responsive to the one or more go-to-sleep indications. Each TRP of the two or more TRPs may transmit a separate per-TRP go-to-sleep signal that indicates that the TRP will not transmit during a time period associated the go-to-sleep signal. In other cases, a TRP may transmit a cross-TRP go-to-sleep signal that has go-to-sleep indications for multiple TRPs.
