Abstract: Described are various embodiments of a luminaire and output element coupling mechanism therefore. In one embodiment, a recessable luminaire comprises two or more luminaire modules, each one of which comprising a recessable housing having opposed side walls. Abstract: A light fixture with a single edge lit optical assembly produces various light distributions which provide targeted control of light output with peak intensity that is non-normal to the light guide output face. The compact form factor of the light fixture embodiments having narrow width are particularly well-suited for use in linear lighting applications requiring suspended, surface and recessed installations typically used to illuminate walls, floors and/or ceilings. The light fixture can also be selectively configured and oriented during assembly and installation to achieve various lighting distributions. Optical components within the light fixture are typically positioned and retained in optical alignment with internal support features of a linear housing. The optical assembly typically includes LED board, light guide, and one or more reflectors, and an optically transmitting component further providing a fixture assembler a range of design choices. A variety of light distributions can be achieved including asymmetrical and symmetrical with one or more peak intensities. Further embodiments utilize selective alignment of light guide with one or more reflectors to achieve different light distributions.

Abstract: A single edge lit lighting module produces bi-lobed light distributions which provide targeted control of light output. The compact form factor of module embodiments having narrow width are particularly well-suited for use in linear lighting fixtures for suspended and downlighting configurations typically used to illuminate floors and/or ceilings. Embodiments of the single edge lit lighting module utilize reflectors in combination with light guides having volumetric light scattering properties and surface features to control peak intensities, output angles, and shapes of the two light output lobes. A variety of light distributions can be achieved including symmetrical distributions conventionally achieved by double edge lit modules. Further embodiments utilize selective alignment of light guide with reflector to achieve different light distributions thereby providing a fixture assembler with more design choices without need of additional components.

Abstract: Disclosed is a luminaire including a ceiling mountable housing that defines an inner cartridge-receiving cavity accessible at an opening that is accessible in a healthcare space. A cartridge is provided to be received in the housing. The cartridge includes a light output region that is configured to locate an interior light guide and an exterior lens with an optical spacing therebetween. Abstract: A single edge lit lighting module is disclosed which produces tailored light distributions valuable in many illumination applications. The light distributions attainable using the invention include, but are not limited to, symmetric and asymmetric batwing distributions, asymmetric distributions for perimeter lighting and symmetric distributions. The invention's unique single edge lit construction provide the means for achieving this without need for conventional two lit edges and within a compact form factor with narrow width, particularly well-suited for linear lighting fixtures. Various embodiments also provide means for adjusting light distributions dynamically to control light output characteristics by controlling the input signals to the LED board included in the assembly.

Abstract: A mounting assembly for mounting a light fixture comprises a plurality of anchor structures attachable to a ceiling at designated locations thereon to form an anchor array to be patterned so as to be complementary with a target location array of a plurality of target locations on the light fixture. A plurality of elongate flexible structures is provided according to the anchor array, each configured to extend from a corresponding anchor structure so as to be orientable to align with a corresponding target location in the target location array when the target location array is unaligned with the anchor array. A plurality of retainers is provided according to the anchor array, each configured to be positionable at a distal location on the corresponding elongate flexible structure, thereby to suspend the light fixture below the ceiling. Each retainer being displaceable along the corresponding elongate flexible structure to collectively displace the light fixture toward engagement with the ceiling, wherein the retainer is positionable at a designated location on the elongate flexible structure, wherein an installed position of the light fixture is defined by a cumulative effect of a relative positioning of each anchor location and each corresponding target location.

Abstract: A luminaire assembly comprises a first luminaire structure and a second luminaire structure, each configured for positioning in an illuminatable position on an enclosure surface. Each of the first and second luminaire structures comprises a housing structure and an illumination structure extending outwardly from the housing structure. The illumination structure has at least one outer surface region which terminates at a longitudinal distal end region and at least one lateral edge region, wherein the respective lateral edge regions of the first and second luminaire structures are alignable to form an aligning interface therebetween. A clamp assembly is configured for clamping the adjacent lateral end regions in the aligning interface to join the first and second luminaire structures together, the clamp assembly providing at least one outer clamp surface region which is configured to be complementary with the corresponding at least one outer surface region of each of the joined first and second luminaire structures.
