Abstract: A display device includes a display panel and a display panel driver. The display panel includes a pixel having a switching element of a first type and a switching element of a second type different from the first type. The display panel driver drives the display panel. In a first mode, the display panel driver drives the switching element of the first type and the switching element of the second type with a high driving frequency. In a second mode, the display panel driver drives the switching element of the first type with the high driving frequency and the switching element of the second type with low driving frequency which is lower than the high driving frequency. In a third mode, the display panel driver drives the switching element of the first type and the switching element of the second type with the low driving frequency.

In a low-frequency driving mode, the display panel operates in a writing frame for writing data in the pixel and in a holding frame for holding the data written in the pixel, and the driving controller provides the gate driver with a gate clock signal having a direct current (DC) voltage during the holding frame.
