摘要: When carrying out magnetization, annealing, and initialization of a recording film by applying a laser beam to the recording film while rotating an optical recording medium 10 by a motor 11, light of a strong visible-light lamp 15 is projected as parallel light to a reflecting mirror 14 via a lens 16 so as to apply light reflected by the reflecting mirror 14 to an area wider than a spot of the laser beam on the medium 10 for heating. At that time, a control unit 18 controls an intensity of the strong visible-light lamp 15 to raise a temperature of the medium 10 to a temperature of 80° C. or higher and a softening point of a substrate or lower, for example.

摘要: A power source (120) supplies an input voltage (V 1). A voltage conversion circuit (130) converts the input voltage (V1) from the power source (120) into an operating voltage (V2) to be used to drive an electric load (150). A detection circuit (170) measures an insulation resistance value (R) on the output side of the voltage conversion circuit (130). A control circuit (160) controls a voltage conversion ratio (K (K=V2/V1)) in the voltage conversion circuit (130), which is expressed as a ratio of the operating voltage (V2) to the input voltage (V1), in accordance with the insulation resistance value (R) detected by the detection circuit (170). The control circuit (160) sets the voltage conversion ratio (K) such that the operating voltage (V2) becomes lower at the time of degradation of an insulation resistance than at the time of normal operation thereof.

摘要: There is a method disclosed for detecting errors when supplying electric power to a heating device in an image forming apparatus that is capable of setting various options, has a coil in a heating roller, generates eddy-current in the heating roller by producing a high frequency magnetic field from the coil, and has a fixing device for fixing a developer image on a recording medium through the self-heating of the heating roller based on the eddy-current loss. This detecting method first judges comparative times to temperature arriving points at plural stages when executing the process to raise a temperature of the heating roller to a prescribed temperature based on the options that are set, applies prescribed electric power to the coil when the power source is turned ON, executes the process to raise a temperature of the heating roller to a prescribed temperature. In this process, temperatures of the heating roller are detected along the elapse of time and it is judged whether there is any error from the time elapse to the temperature arriving points at plural stages judged from the detected temperature and corresponding comparative times judged by the first judgment.

摘要: In an optical recording medium having a writable area in which grooves are formed along recording tracks and a read-only area in which pits are formed along the recording tracks, sufficient levels of signals required for data write and read can be assured even with the track pitch reduced for a higher recording density. Assuming that the refractive index of a medium provided extending from a light-incident surface to a surface in which the grooves and pits are formed is n and the wavelength of a light used for data write and read is &lgr;, the grooves and pits has a width within a range of &lgr;/7.5 n to &lgr;/6. On the assumption that the width of each of the grooves formed in the writable area is Wg and the pitch between the recording tracks in the writable area is Tp1, Wg/Tp1 is within a range of 18.4% to 31.1%. When it is assumed that the width of each of the pitches formed in the read-only area is Wp and the pitch between the recording tracks in the read-only area is Tp2, Wp/Tp2 is within a range of 35.7% to 44.3%.
