A humanized form of an anti-idiotype antibody to CEA, e.g., hWI2, has conserved immunoreactivity. The clinical benefits of anti-CEA antibodies are maximized by using the humanized anti-idiotype as a clearing agent for anti-CEA antibodies or antibody fragments. The humanized anti-idiotype also can be used as an immunogenic vaccine.

Disclosed are compounds that include two or more haptens conjugated by a spacer or a carrier. The haptens may include diethylenetriaminepentaacetate (DTPA), histimine-succinyl-glutamine (HSG), or combinations of DTPA and HSG. The compound also includes an effector molecule which may be conjugated to one or more of the haptens, the spacer/carrier, or both. The effector molecule may be conjugated by a number of linkages including an ester linkage, an imino linkage, an amino linkage, a sulfide linkage, a thiosemicarbazone linkage, a semicarbazone linkage, an oxime linkage, an ether linkage, or combinations of these linkages. Also disclosed are methods of synthesizing the compounds and/or precursors of the compounds.

A chimeric LL2 monoclonal antibody is described in which the complementarity determining regions (CDRs) of the light and heavy chains of the murine LL2 anti-B-lymphoma, anti-leukemia cell monoclonal antibody has been recombinantly joined to the human kappa and IgG1 constant region domains, respectively, which retains the immunospecificity and B-cell lymphoma and leukemia cell internalization capacity of the parental murine LL2 monoclonal antibody, and which has the potential of exhibiting reduced human anti-mouse antibody production activity. A humanized LL2 monoclonal antibody is described in which the CDRs of the light and heavy chains have been recombinantly joined to a framework sequence of human light and heavy chains variable regions, respectively, and subsequently linked to human kappa and IgG1 constant region domains, respectively, which retains the immunospecificity and B-lymphoma and leukemia cell internalization capacities of the parental murine and chimeric LL2 monoclonal antibodies, and which has the potential for exhibiting reduced human anti-mouse antibody production activity. Vectors for producing recombinant chimeric and humanized chimeric monoclonal antibodies are provided. Isolated DNAs encoding the amino acid sequences of the LL2 variable light and heavy chain and CDR framework regions are described. Conjugates of chimeric and humanized chimeric LL2 antibodies with cytotoxic agents or labels find use in therapy and diagnosis of B-cell lymphomas and leukemias.

A skimmer/separator ladle comprises a handle of an elongated configuration and a bowl of a cup-shaped configuration defining an upper rim. The handle and the bowl are connected together and the handle extends upwardly from the bowl at the upper rim of the bowl. In order to render it possible to carry out any skimming/separation operation, the bowl has an outwardly protruding tongue arranged at a first rim section of the bowl, which tongue is located below the upper rim of the bowl, and further one or more through-going holes which are provided in the bowl and arranged at a second rim section of the bowl, which one or more through-going holes are located below the upper rim of the bowl and further located above the tongue.
