摘要: Toner images of different colors are superimposed on a transfer belt of an endless type from image carriers, to form a full color toner image. A tension roller maintains a tension of the transfer belt. A driving roller drives the transfer belt. A biasing unit applies the tension to the tension roller. A holding unit holds the tension roller. An image reading sensor detects the toner image formed on the transfer belt. The image reading sensor is disposed in the holding unit, in an opposite position to the tension roller with respect to the transfer belt.

摘要: A heating device includes a first rotator, a heater including a base and a heat generator, and a second rotator contacting the first rotator. The heat generator adjacent to the base defines a heat generation area having one edge close to one edge of the base in a longitudinal direction of the base. A length between the one edge of the base and the one edge of the heat generation area is longer than a length between the other edge of the base and the other edge of the heat generation area. 摘要: An image forming apparatus includes an image bearer, a protectant applicator, a heating device, and a protectant biasing member. The protectant applicator applies protectant to the image bearer. The heating device includes a heater including a base, a heat generator, an electrode, and a conductor coupling the heat generator to the electrode. The heater has a first position and a second position having a higher temperature than the first position. These are symmetrical to each other with respect to a longitudinal center of a heat generation area of the heater. The protectant biasing member biases the protectant to the protectant applicator with a first biasing force at a position closer to the first position than to the second position and with a second biasing force larger than the first biasing force at a position closer to the second position than to the first, and the protectant contacts the protectant applicator.

摘要: A fixing device includes a nip formation pad, an endless fixing rotator, a pressure rotator, and a lubricant transfer portion. The endless fixing rotator has an inner circumferential surface adhered with a lubricant. The pressure rotator is pressed against the nip formation pad via the fixing rotator to form a nip through which an image is fixed on a recording medium. The lubricant transfer portion transfers the lubricant toward a center side in a width direction perpendicular to a rotational direction of the fixing rotator.
