摘要: An image forming apparatus includes: a photoreceptor; an exposing unit comprising a light window and a light source; a developing unit; a transfer unit; a sensing unit comprising a sensor sensing a toner image of the transfer unit; and a shutter unit configured to open or close the light window and the sensor, wherein the shutter unit includes: a motor configured to have a driving shaft rotating in a first rotation direction and a second rotation direction; a first shutter part configured to open or close the light window by receiving driving force transferred from the driving shaft when the driving shaft rotates in the first and second rotation directions; and a second shutter part configured to open or close the sensor by receiving driving force transferred from the driving shaft when the driving shaft rotates in the second rotation direction.

摘要: A transfer device includes an image bearer, a rotatable body, a solid lubricant assembly, and a guide. An image bearer bears an image. The rotatable body forms a transfer nip with the image bearer to rotate in contact with a recording medium. An image on the image bearer is transferred onto the recording medium at the transfer nip. The solid lubricant assembly includes a solid lubricant and extends in a longitudinal direction of the rotatable body. The solid lubricant assembly applies a solid lubricant to at least one of the rotatable body and the image bearer. The guide guides the recording medium and positions the solid lubricant assembly.

摘要: In an image forming apparatus, a controller (a) determines a bright potential of a photoconductor drum at calibration, (b) adjusts a development bias and thereby determines as an intermediate reference development bias value a value of the development bias so that a toner density based on an output of a reflection-type optical sensor is equal to an intermediate reference density lower than a target density, (c) determines as an intermediate reference effective potential a difference between the intermediate reference development bias value and the bright potential at calibration, and (d) determines a development bias value corresponding to the target density by linear interpolation based on the intermediate reference effective potential and a virtual zero density effective potential. The virtual zero density effective potential is a difference between a development bias and a bright potential of the photoconductor drum when a transmission density is virtually zero.

摘要: An image forming apparatus includes: an image forming unit configured to form an image pattern on a medium, a predetermined image repeatedly appearing in a first cycle in a sub scanning direction in the image pattern; a density detector configured to optically detect a density of the image pattern in the sub scanning direction; a cyclic image detector configured to detect a feature image having a second cycle corresponding to the first cycle in accordance with a result of the detection; and a state determining unit configured to determine whether a cycle depending on an outer circumference of a rotary member included in the image forming apparatus corresponds to the second cycle when the feature image is detected by the cyclic image detector, and determine that a state of the rotary member has deteriorated when the cycle depending on the outer circumference is determined to correspond to the second cycle.

摘要: An image forming apparatus includes a toner pattern bearer to bear a first toner pattern having a first image area rate and a second toner pattern having a second image area rate different from the first image area rate. A toner adhesion amount detector detects a toner adhesion amount of toner of each of the first toner pattern and the second toner pattern. A toner degradation rate calculator calculates a first deviation in the toner adhesion amount of the first toner pattern and a second deviation in the toner adhesion amount of the second toner pattern based on the toner adhesion amount detected by the toner adhesion amount detector. The toner degradation rate calculator compares the first deviation with the second deviation and calculates a toner degradation rate based on a comparison result.
