    摘要: An optical component is improved in workability during assembly operation thereof and makes it possible to easily position an optical fiber. A first ferrule is press-fitted into one end of a central hole of a connecting member, and a second ferrule is press-fitted into the other end of the central hole of the connecting member. An optical fiber is inserted through the first and second ferrules. A coating which coats an intermediate portion of the optical fiber of an optical fiber cord is accommodated in a communicating portion of the central hole of the connecting member in a manner such that the coating is brought into abutment with the first and second ferrules.

A shutter member is coupled to the housing and includes a light shielding portion which is elastically deformable and extends across the optical axis. The aligning member has a principal surface and a side surface adjacent to the principal surface. The aligning member has a fiber-receiving groove for receiving the axial end portion of the optical fiber. The fiber-receiving groove extends along the principal surface in a predetermined direction and has end portions each opening on the side surface. The holding plate is faced to the principal surface and covers the fiber-receiving groove. The holding plate has a first slant surface beside one of end portions of the fiber-receiving groove. The first slant surface has an angle with respect to the principal surface. The first angle is determined smaller than the predetermined angle.

    摘要: There is provided an optical fiber end face cleaner which is easy to carry and make preparations for use, facilitates cleaning operation, and what is more, makes it possible to positively remove or clear away attached materials from end faces of optical fibers without causing any of the removed materials to adhere to the end faces again. The optical fiber end face cleaner includes at least one elastic base formed by an elastic member having a flat surface of a predetermined size, and a predetermined thickness in a direction perpendicular to the surface. An adhesive layer is formed on a surface of the elastic base, for allowing the end faces of the optical fibers to be pressed against the adhesive layer to cause deposits on the end faces to adhere to the adhesive layer for removal.

The blocking component has a shutter plate blocking the optical axis and being pivotably supported by the housing with a pivot shaft and an elastic portion for normally biasing the shutter plate to a closed position. The shutter plate pivots between a position blocking the optical axis and a position to which the shutter plate is forced to move by the other optical connector when the other optical connector is inserted into the optical connector.
