Abstract: Federated computing architectures allow for the interoperability of components and facilitates the exchange of data between varying systems and components. Endpoints, such as those utilizing Extensible Messaging and Presence Protocol (XMPP) assume the same XMPP stream is used for both messaging and presence. Such systems are unable to accommodate a representational state transfer (“REST”) or, in other words, be “RESTful,” where the messaging server and presence server are distinct servers and may be on different domains. Provided here are systems described to split the protocols and enable an endpoint to appear to communicate with a single server while a protocol splitter routes and receives messages from distinct servers handling messaging and presence separately.

Abstract: A video- and/or audio-enabled communication system includes a processor, coupled with a camera, the camera acquiring an image of an object of interest during a video communication session involving multiple participants and a computer readable medium comprising instructions that cause the processor to perform automatically an action in response to and related to a sensed context during the video communication session. The action can be one or more of retrieve or provide content of interest to one or more of the participants, join a third party to the video communication session, recommend that a further action be performed by the processor, and schedule an activity involving one or more of the participants.

Abstract: Embodiments herein include systems and methods for providing a mechanism to enable smooth, seamless, and reliable connectivity for wireless devices in a unified network. The system supports roaming of mobile units across mobility switches. A given mobile unit can retain its IP address in both intra-subnet and inter-subnet roaming scenarios. The given mobile unit also retains its membership to a mobility VLAN to which it had been assigned, even during roaming scenarios. Embodiments include a framework for wireless switches to advertise VLANs they support to peer wireless switches in the mobility domain, and to advertise their capability to act as VLAN servers for those VLANs. Embodiments support VLAN membership management capabilities that allow access points and peer wireless switches to request wireless switches to add VLANs to the tunnels they share.

Abstract: Methods, devices, and systems are provided for converting messages received from different sources into a universal file management system format managed by a central server. Each message may be sent from a sender to at least one recipient in a communication system. Upon receiving the messages, the central server converts each message into at least one folder and file. The files or folders can be stored in a secure central repository or memory. The secure central repository may include directory-sync servicing to virtually a user communication device other than the server. Files or folders may be marked as sensitive and restricted from access, copying, or other distribution. Sensitive files and folders, representing messages received can be restricted to viewing via a real-time communication application running on a user's communication device and portal connection to the secure central repository.

Abstract: A method, server, and communication system are described that, among other things, enable a server in a server cluster to assume control of any “early” Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) dialogs previously handled by another server in the server cluster when that server fails or otherwise becomes unable to continue handling a communication session. The replacement server in the server cluster is able to generate one or more messages that include an identification of the dialog identifiers used by the now failed server as well as new dialog identifiers to replace the dialog identifiers used by the now failed server.

Abstract: Methods and systems for identifying specified phrases within audio streams are provided. More particularly, a phrase is specified. An audio stream is them monitored for the phrase. In response to determining that the audio stream contains the phrase, verification from a user that the phrase was in fact included in the audio stream is requested. If such verification is received, the portion of the audio stream including the phrase is recorded. The recorded phrase can then be applied to identify future instances of the phrase in monitored audio streams.

Abstract: A fingerprint is received from a communication endpoint. The fingerprint is based on a hardware identifier of the communication endpoint. For example the fingerprint may be based on a Media Access Control (MAC) address of the communication endpoint. A request for an emergency call from the communication endpoint is received that also includes the fingerprint. For instance, a user may initiate a 911 call from the communication endpoint. The emergency call is established. After the emergency call is disconnected, a request for an emergency call back is received. For example, if the emergency call prematurely disconnected, the emergency call back is initiated. The request for the emergency call back is routed to the communication endpoint based on the fingerprint to ensure that the emergency call is properly completed.

Abstract: Embodiments include providing network management based on monitoring Quality of Service (QoS) characteristics of Web Real-Time Communications (WebRTC) interactive flows, and related methods, systems, and computer-readable media. In one embodiment, a method for providing network management based on monitoring QoS characteristics of WebRTC interactive flows is provided. The method comprises obtaining, by a QoS acquisition agent of a WebRTC client executing on a computing device, a WebRTC interactive flow QoS characteristic that indicates a quality of a WebRTC interactive flow over a network. The method further comprises communicating, by the QoS acquisition agent, the WebRTC interactive flow QoS characteristic to a QoS monitoring agent external to the WebRTC client. The method additionally comprises initiating, by the QoS monitoring agent, a network management task based on the WebRTC interactive flow QoS characteristic. In this manner, QoS characteristics may be collected and correlated in order to optimize a user's WebRTC experience.
