Abstract: A fan assembly for an umbrella including a first integrated sub-assembly clampable about an umbrella pole. The first integrated sub-assembly has a split collar surrounding the umbrella pole, a support housing on a lower end of the collar defining a drive ring support plate, and a motor housing enclosing a motor therein on an upper end of the collar spaced from the drive ring support plate. Abstract: An improved parasol with an improved ventilation system. The parasol, includes a foldable frame with concentric first and second panels. The radius of the first panel is shorter than the length of the rib of the parasol. The second panel is annular in shape and covers the area from the outer periphery of the first panel to the outermost edge of the parasol. A cord is provided between the second panel's inner periphery and the stretchers to enlarge the gaps at the areas where the first and the second panel overlap. A plurality of elastic loops are provided at the first panel's outer periphery to provide elasticity to the first panel to prevent the first panel from turning inside out in strong wind.

Abstract: An air cooled umbrella is provided having a rod, a handle with a handgrip, a top spring, a runner, a plurality of stretchers, and a collapsible canopy. A plurality of flat ribs are under the canopy. Each flat rib has a plurality of holes therethrough for venting hot air from under the canopy when opened. An electric fan is built into the rod directly under the canopy, so as to speed up the venting of the hot air and to supply cool air to a person under the canopy. The fan may be supplied power from a solar cell panel mounted on the canopy of the umbrella or alternatively from a separate rechargeable handle battery pack. The separate rechargeable handle battery pack may be charged by either the solar cell panel or a separate house current wall socket charger assembly.

Abstract: This invention presents a face shield for beach or sunbathing use. The face shield is formed of a rigid transparent material, containing pigmenting or surface films to block the transmission of damaging ultraviolet rays from the sun. In cross-section, this material is formed into an arc. From each end of the arc, simple support legs are provided such that the face shield will rest on the earth surface with room for motion of the user's head beneath the shield. Air circulation is enhanced by such support and by ventilation holes in the face shield near the support legs. The support legs are foldable toward the concave center of the face shield, and are useful as carrying handles for the face shield in an inverted position. When carried in such manner, the face shield can be used to serve as a "tote" for towels and other beach paraphernalia.
