    摘要: The present invention relates to a screw used for connecting a hard disk drive cover to a steel plate and a method for manufacturing the same. In conventional joints, the tightening force gets weaker when the threaded portion is shorter then the length of the screw because there is an un-threaded portion below the full length of the screw. To solve such problems, a screw is provided which has a head formed on one end and a threaded portion formed on the outer circumferential surface of the other side, wherein the threaded portion has a uniform outer diameter, and an edge intersecting the axial direction is formed on the front end of the threaded portion. The manufacturing method comprises: forming a head by forging and cutting a wire-shape material; roll-forming a threaded portion with stationary and movable dies on the outer circumferential surface of a body with the head formed thereon; and cutting the threaded portion to a predetermined length with a cutting edge formed on the roll-formed, stationary and movable dies. Accordingly, when the screw is fastened to a low-height female threaded portion of a target object, the fastening action is facilitated and the defect rate is reduced to a minimum, and this provides improved productivity, lower costs and increased joint force.

    摘要: The present invention pertains to a method of manufacturing a bi-metal screw comprising a sequence of procedures; wherein, the process preparation is for arranging a shank portion and a drilling portion made of different materials; the shank portion has a planar welding surface defined thereon; in particular, the drilling portion includes a conical section with a conical surface defined on the top face thereof. While operating, the conical section is gradually welded to the planar welding surface to form a composite screw, so as to smooth the air away for preventing the interspaces generated within the junction of the two portions and rendering the composite screw not to be slanted aside. Subsequently, an integral bi-metal screw is formed through the processes of precisely cutting and formation, thereby increasing the quality of the screw.

    摘要: A process for cold forging a metal fastener such as a self-clinching standoff includes a punch and die set at the final head trimming station which produces the shear burr only on the underside of the fastener head where it is not visible after installation. At this station, a fastener blank having a tubular barrel and a temporarily formed circular head is placed into a bore of the punch with a barrel of the fastener residing in the bore with the underside of the circular head abutting an end face of the punch. The forging apparatus then moves the die toward the top side of the fastener until a polygonal cutting edge of the die shears metal from around the edges of the circular head of the fastener blank. Movement of the die stops when the cutting edge lies beyond the underside of the head of the fastener. At this point, a knock-out pin which is reciprocal within the bore of the punch forceably ejects the fastener through a passage in the die to a point beyond an opposite side of the die. The forging apparatus then moves the die away from the punch and, once the die is clear of the punch, a stripper sleeve which is reciprocal about the outside surface of the punch moves from a retracted position over the end of the punch removing a residual scrap ring from around the outside of the punch.

    摘要: A method of forming a sheet metal part including a nut structure by providing a sheet of metal, forming a tubular structure projecting integrally from the main body of the sheet, and tapping the tubular structure to form an internal screw thread within the tubular structure. The method is carried out on a press having a plurality of spaced stations including a punch station and a working station. The tubular structure is formed by punching a hole in the sheet at the punch station and thereafter forming the tubular structure in surrounding relation to the hole in a single hit of the press at the working station. The hole is punched in the sheet utilizing a punch and die wherein the diameter of the die is no greater than approximately five percent greater than the diameter of the punch whereby to provide a hole having a cleanly cut sidewall and thereby preclude splitting of the metal of the sheet as the tubular structure is formed at the working station. A coin formation is also formed in the single hit of the press at the working station to accommodate the head of an associated threaded plug adapted to be threaded into the internally threaded tubular structure.
