    摘要: A high speed printer is provided having a plurality of aligned hammer assemblies for directing hammers at a moving character band for printing characters responsive to the hammer's driving against the character band. The hammer assembly has a striker arm pivotly mounted to a striker assembly frame and which acts as an armature when driven by a pair of magnets. The magnets are attached to the striker assembly frame on opposite sides of the striker arm and on opposite sides of the pivot point for the striker arm so that simultaneously actuating both magnets pulls the striker arm for actuating the hammer. Each magnet has a single coil, with one of the magnets having a reverse polarity from each adjacent magnet on an adjacent assembly, while the other magnet has the same polarity to avoid cross-talk and to increase the speed of the printer. A pressure-sensitive tape is bonded to the striker armature to provide a residual air gap between the armature and magnet poles and improvements are made in the hammer guide combs, return plunger, and the platen.

    摘要: To obtain a substantially uniform print density while printing at high speed with a hammer-type impact printer, the hammer is electromagnetically driven in response to an energizing current which decays with a predetermined time constant from a high initial level toward a set point level which is automatically adjusted for different classes of characters so that the impact energy imparted to the hammer is regulated as a function of the character being printed. To adaptively absorb the shock forces generated by the rebounding hammer, the energizing current for the electromagnetic driver is reduced to a predetermined fraction of the set point level.

    摘要: An actuator, which in a preferred embodiment, is shown in a wire matrix printer, and includes a magnetic structure having a support member associated therewith. When used in a wire matrix printer, the actuator includes a plurality of output members (in disc form) mounted on said support member for movement between operative and inoperative positions. Each output member has a coil structure thereon, and when the coil structure is energized, the associated output member is moved to the operative position where a printing element on the output member is brought into printing relationship with a platen of the printer.
