Abstract:
A method for fastening a sheet block (32) to a binding cover (41, 51), implemented in such a way that i) a binding (30) is formed by fastening to at least one side of a sheet block (32), at least one inner cover sheet (10) according to any of the claims 1 to 5 at the location of the attenuation component (12) by fastening devices (33) such as staples, for example, penetrating through the inner cover sheet (10); and ii) fastening the binding (30) thus created to the binding cover (41, 51) by gluing the binding (30) to the inner side (61, 62) of the binding cover (41, 51) by using the adhesive surface or surfaces (11) of at least one inner cover sheet (10). Independent patent claims for an inner cover sheet and a binding.
Abstract:
A book block and/or set of print matter is contemplated to be bound in individual sections through various techniques. These sections will be unbound or stitched to section covers or glued to section covers. These sections will then be augmented with attachment members to allow sections to be secured to each other or a book cover. These attachment members may be secured to the sections through a permanent or non-permanent manner, ranging including tension and/or clamping and/or crimping and/or sewing/stitching and/or gluing. The user of the book will then be allowed to select and detach individual sections of the book block or set of print matter without destroying the integrity of the entire book block or set of print matter. Likewise, publishers of the book are now able to update and/or replace sections of an entire book block and/or print matter without needing to reprint and republish the whole book or set of print matter.
Abstract:
A sheet stock having a flexible hinge area is described. The sheet stock includes a substrate having an opening and gap stiffener, and a flexible film covering the opening and defining a flexible hinge area in the region of the opening and gap stiffener covered by the film. Methods for producing sheet stock having a flexible hinge area are also described. The sheet stock may be used in printing, binding, and in other applications.
Abstract:
Media binder systems with datum stops for registering physical media sheets are described. A media binder system that includes a cover, a binding system, and a datum stop. The cover includes an outwardly facing side and an inwardly facing side. The binding system is attached to the inwardly facing side of the cover and is operable to bind a spine end of a collection of physical media sheets to the cover. The datum stop protrudes away from the inwardly facing side of the cover and includes a datum stop surface against which a head end or a tail end of the collection is registerable prior to binding the collection to the cover. Methods of making media binder systems also are described.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus for binding a stack of sheets. The stack may form a book and may have a binding region about which a binder can be clamped.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to an apparatus for labeling the spine or edge of a binder. In an embodiment, the device comprises a housing, a clip attached to the housing and a label encased within the housing. The housing further comprises a base portion and a cover portion, wherein the cover portion is adapted to enclose a label within the base portion of the labeling device.
Abstract:
A method of binding a book including the steps of providing a front cover page, a rear cover page and at least two center pages each constructed of a foam material and providing at least two binding sheets. A first center page is mounted on a first binding sheet with a connection portion of the first binding sheet not being covered by the first center page. Another center page is mounted on another binding sheet in the same manner. The first center page is then mounted on one of the front and rear cover pages and the connection portion of the first binding sheet is connected to an adjacent center page. The connection portion of the another binding sheet is then connected to the other of the front and rear cover pages and the front, rear and center pages are thus bound in book format.
Abstract:
A volume comprising a plurality of pages made from folded contiguous sheets. The volume includes joining together the external faces of the pages of the contiguous sheets to provide a plurality of pages without a spine binding. The volume may further include pages having sleeves on internal faces which are adapted to receive photographs.
Abstract:
A method of binding folded signature sections together into a book comprised of a signature comb element having teeth which are inserted through perforations in the fold of the signatures and the teeth having tabs which secure the signature comb in slots between two or more spine tapes. The spine tapes adjustably lock into the hinge of the covers by a tooth and pawl mechanism, further interlocking one or more signatures to the spine of the book and securely fasten together the signatures and book cover.
Abstract:
A system for binding printed works consisting of sheets each comprising a first portion for reading and a second portion for binding. Binding is achieved by clamping all the second sheet portions between two reinforcing strips. The first portion of each sheet comprises a data medium 2 with a coating material on both sides thereof forming a data-medium-free strip 3 having a reduced thickness relative to the first sheet portion and a predetermined width that is greater than the width of the reinforcing strips.
