    摘要: A rail road freight car truck has a truck bolster and a pair of side frames, the truck bolster being mounted transversely relative to the side frames. The mounting interface between the ends of the axles and the sideframe pedestals allows lateral rocking motion of the sideframes in the manner of a swing motion truck. The lateral swinging motion is combined with a longitudinal self steering capability. The self steering capability may be obtained by use of a longitudinally oriented rocker that may tend to permit resistance to deflection that is proportional to the weight carried across the interface. The truck may have auxiliary centering elements mounted in the pedestal seats, and those auxiliary centering elements may be made of resilient elastomeric material. The truck may also have friction dampers that have a disinclination to stick-slip behaviour. The friction dampers may be provided with brake linings, or similar features, on the face engaging the sideframe columns, on the slope face, or both. The friction dampers may operate to yield upward and downward friction forces that are not overly unequal. The friction dampers may be mounted in a four-cornered arrangement at each end of the truck bolster. The spring groups may include sub-groups of springs of different heights

    摘要: A vertical load measurement device and a method for measuring a load at least partially supported by an axle of a railcar are disclosed. The measurement device includes a bearing adapter sized to be mounted between a load bearing member of the railcar and an axle bearing housing of the railcar. The beam member has a first end and a second end, at least one end being secured to the bearing adapter, and a midsection extending between the ends which supports the load applied by the load bearing member of the railcar. The midsection of the beam member is vertically spaced from the bearing adapter to allow deflection of the beam member in response to the load applied by the load bearing member. The vertical load measurement device also includes a sensor secured to the beam member which measures the deflection of the beam member.

    摘要: There is an electric railway truck comprising an unsprung third rail collector beam for a swing arm primary suspension. The collector beam and attached current collector is mounted to the truck frame through the use of mounting adapters, links, and elastomeric bushings. Specifically, in the vicinity of the swing arm axle housings, the collector beam is secured to the mounting adapters which, in turn, are suspended below the respective axle housings by the links and accompanying elastomeric bushings. The torsional deflection of the elastomeric bushings permit the links to swing in the longitudinal direction, thereby accommodating the relatively larger angular and longitudinal axle housing motions created by a swing arm primary suspension.

    摘要: A basic truck for a railway car includes a pair of side frames connected by suitable transverse disposed members. Standard structural members for holding different types of suspension and journal bearings of the car are provided and are secured to the end of the side frames at predetermined locations dependent upon the types of suspension and journal bearings used. Gusset members designed in accordance with the operating car requirements are connected to provide the principal structural connections between the mountings and the side frames.

    摘要: A thrust block roller bearing retainer is mounted on one or both of the depending legs at each opposite end of a pedestal jaw side frame of a railway car truck assembly. Each thrust roller bearing retainer provides an arcuate bearing surface which conforms to the exterior of the roller bearing and is juxtaposed thereto to provide retaining support when dislocating or disengaging forces are imparted to the roller bearing tending to disengage or dislocate the same with respect to its frame adapter. In addition to the arcuate bearing surface for engaging the exterior of the roller bearing each thrust block roller bearing retainer has a reverse supporting surface adapted to have solid engagement with the inner face of the depending side frame leg on which it is mounted, preferably by means of a bolt extending horizontally through registering apertures in the bearing retainer and depending leg. The thrust block roller bearing retainer functionally supplants the standard frame key although the frame key may be attached in the usual manner if desired.
